Ah thanks for the info !
That should not be a problem then since I'm sure comskip will run before Sage transcodes the show. |

I like the comskip feature also. I read some where on here that there is a difference in the versions of comskip. The free one with the plugin and the donators version. I ran this under v6 and had purchased a donators version. Is there a big difference? How do I go about installing the donators version into sage7 ?
Thanks Wayne

Wayne,
If you are using CommercialDetector you can use the donator's version of comskip that you purchased. Just go to the Config options of CommercialDetector and look for the settings to point it to the correct comskip.exe and comskip.ini. It is very easy to do. Tom

I found the comskip folder and copied it so I had a backup copy and then transfered all of the donators file to the original comskip folder. Is there any settings that need changed right off the bat in the ini file?
Thanks Wayne

Does the donators 80_42 version of comskip work with sage 7? After I swapped out the comskip files with the donators version, comskip does not work any more.

Yes. That's the whole purpose of the donator version. it works with Sage 7 beta 7.15 and has worked since 7 came out. These are standard mpeg and h.264 files and has nothing to do with what version Sage TV you are running. Comskip is independent of Sage. How are you triggering comskip to run? Did you put it in the same place the previous version of comskip.exe?

I saved a copy of the sage comskip folder so I had all of the old stuff. Then I copied all of the donators files and dropped them into the sage comskip folder and I noticed the first night it did not do anything and I rembered the few settings that was posted so I changed them it it still does not work.
Thanks Wayne

Right. But comskip doesn't run by itself. You're using either Dirmon2 or SQJ or Comskip Detector plugin. You need to make sure one of those is configured correctly.

I am using comercial detector plugin 0.80 listed in the plugins and have not changed any of the properties of it and it looks like to me it is pointing to the right comskip folder and files.

Enable sage debug logging, go to the CommercialDetector options and change the log level to Trace, let Sage run until a few recordings are complete (that triggers comskip.exe) then Zip the logfile from your server and attach.

Last night I copied the original comskip files back into the original folder and it works. So there is something in the donators version it does not like at this point. Tonight when I have more time i will try to compare the 2 and see if I can see any major difference

If you're copying over all the files you're overwriting the comskip.ini file which has all the settings. Copy everything but the .ini file from the new files and then see if it works.

There is no harm to have comskip.exe output the .txt files, just make sure you tell CommercialDetector to delete them. (And I'm fairly sure the defaults in CommercialDetector are set to automatically delete all files ending in .txt, .edl, and .incommercial)

Comskip quit working when moved to x64 Windows 7 Server
I love comskip but it stopped running when I moved from a Win7 Ultimate x86 server to a Win7 Home Premium x64 server.
I can still see the commercial skips in older recordings, but all recordings since the move to the new server don't have edl files. When I select Run Comskip, nothing happens. Any pointers to the problem? [I miss the Remote Connection to my headless server that MS doesn't support in Home Premium, and I had to reformat my Dynamic Disks which also aren't supported in Home Premium...pain the ass MS.] But I'm guessing it's the change to 64-bit OS that broke Comskip? |

probably the path to the comskip exe is no longer valid ("program files" vs "program files (x86)")

comskip not automatically skipping commercials
For th past few weeks comskip is no longer automatically skipping commercials. It is creating the .edl files and the skips are showing in the timeline, but i need to hit the right arrow key in order for the commercials to be skipped. I have comskp enabled. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?
