it is a decoder card or encoder card
SageTV only works with mpeg encoder cards and furthermore only uses MPEG2 streams SageTV can use a hardware decoder rather than a software one for viewing though, but the recording are done via a hardware encoder on the TV cards |

Its an decoder card I used to use it as my main dvd player before I bought a stand alone it has s video out to the tv, i guess it's its like an xcard without the divx, I was wondering if sage supported it and whether if it did would the hardware decoded mpg show within the sage media player or would I have to use s video out of the decoder card and thus lose the osd? anyway it's a kinda hyperthetical queation as I have an epia m10000 with only one pci slot which is taken up by pvr 250 I need an 2 slot riser to go over the motherboard but am having trouble finding any in the uk that work. anyone know if there are any plans for a usb xcard type product?

I also have one of these encore decoder cards, the main problem even if you do get it to work would be no OSD, I currently use an XCard and that is my only complaint with it.
Also from a post I did for the same question, some folk reckons the encore is very picky about what it will actually decode, i.e. it must be a source which adheres to stict dvd standards and if it is not complient material it will not recognise it. An example might be 44.1khz audio instead of 48khz. Patrick |

I still presume no version of this card supports the OSD?

pbennington - search for the "Travla C137" mini-itx case. It provides for two PCI cards, but the dual-pci riser is extra. I'm pretty sure www.mini-itx.com carries them.
I'm planning to get one and try it out with a PCI/TV-out card asap. I'd like some more consistent video device drivers than VIA has provided. My next Q, though, is, who can recommend a good inexpensive PCI vid card with TV-out and MPEG acceleration? I've been looking at GeForce FX5200 and old Radeons (7200, 7500, etc) but I don't want to overload the 90W PSU in the case... |

I have an sereniti 2000 miniitx case, where the pci riser has to face over the mother board, I have ahd a dual riser that does this but it seems that it isn't compatable with the m10000, well I couldn't get the top slot working, there is one availble in german that apparently works from rosch.de but I can't find it available in th uk.

Ok. I had a sereniti 2000 briefly that I could not even get a stable system into. I think the PSU was flaky.
I'll report back when/if I get the dual PCI in the C137 working... |
