When you asked about the thumbnails and images, It made me think that I used to see them. As I thought about that a little I remembered I had replaced my router, as I went back thru the threads to the one I had asked you about router settings and was reading it and whent into my router setup, I found I did not have the jetty port setup right. I am now watching video as I type this. Cool

Thanks for all of your help

I have good download and upload speed, But the video wants to go choppy and broken. Is there any thing to adjust to help this?

Thanks

- The "Play on device" could probably benefit from pre-transcoding to a supported format...

- The VLC streaming is basically all configurable from the SageTCPServer plugin config or direct editing of the sage.properties.

- The iOS streaming plugin can only be configured in the source.

Will it work on SageTV V6 server

I was all excited to discover tthe taSageTV application and promptly installed it on my Android tablet. Then i realized that i needed the TCP server plugin.

Can someone tell me if taSageTV will work on SageTV version 6? Their website says it isn't supported anymore but i read something about just needing to change some entried in the properties file.

Also, how do i install the TCP Server plugin on V6?

Sorry for asking but i don't want to read through 75 pages posts to find out my effort is wasted since i have V6.

Thanks.

Thanks, but it's not an option beause i don;t have V7 licenses for the PC desktop clients and V6 clients don't work with V7 server, unfortunately.

Upgrades to SageTV 7 Client are free you don't need to use the hacked exe. The upgrade fee was to the server license only.

Hey Fonceur

I bought a couple of licenses before you offered them through the marketplace. I wipe my phones and tablets from time to time, so I have not been able to keep up with relicensing my copies of taSageTV. Is there a way to convert my licenses to the marketplace to avoid having to go through that process

Thanks

The backward compatibility to SageTV 6 was dropped a long time ago, as version 7 made the plugin support easier and better.

Google Play has no promotional code or such like Apple's app store has, so there is no way to migrate people from the registered version to it. Which is too bad, as that would have made things easier.

I just got a new motorola droid phone and have installed the app. It seams like I cannot hold communication as the 2 antennas at the top goto x's. If I close the app and restart it I will have the antennas showing but as soon as I start doing anything they goto x's. Benchmarks for speed are 7868.7 kbits down and 3875.4 kbits up. I do only have 2 bars showing for signal strenght. Any ideas what to look for or why this is happening? Forgot to say this is on verizon 4 G.
Thanks
Wayne

Forgot to add this is on android 4.1.1

Sounds like a bad SageTCPServer password... Either you set a password in one but not the other, or they're not matching...

If I switch on my wi-fi connection it works fine. I do not have a password on the new phone, nor do I know where to find it in sage to see if there is one. For what ever reason when they took out the sim or card out of my old phone, I lost the program. I still have the icon and when I tap on it it says application is not installed on your phone.
So I can't even look at the old phone to see how it was set. Where would I look in the program to see if there is a password?
I did look thru sage properties and found sagetcp server / password= is blank

Hi Fonceur,

I had tried taSageTV a while back; but quickly found out that taSageTV didn't take advantage of SageTVTranscoder.exe (aka FFmpeg r93) to do live transcoding; which would be necessary viewing any of my TV channels or movies. Pre-transcoding everything I might want to watch isn't feasible either. It looks like Phoenix for SageTV Android also doesn't take advantage of SageTVTranscoder.exe either.

Im curious how far you are from supporting live transcoding. Having a live transcoder in place will solve all sorts of media playback issues on the Android client by encoding to a consistent/predictable Android-friendly media format. The user wouldn't need to worry about experimenting with different players on their android device to try to make playback work.

Thanks for all your effort in contributing to the SageTV community!

It looks like my old sd card in the new phone may have been creating problems. Stopped over at verizon tonight to ask why my old phone would not load this app and they pulled my sd card out of new phone and put it back in old phone and now I can test app and it works on new phone.

OK, then you're probably not forwarding all the right ports (i.e. 8080, 9250, 926x). Alternatively, you can check the Server settings and make sure that you have the same ones for wifi and external network access.

The app installs preferentially on the SD card.

While the "Play on device" does not use any transcoding, if you use the option menu, those either use the iOS streaming plugin which does use the SageTVTranscoder.exe and one uses VLC...

While I might try to eventually replace the SageTVTranscoder.exe of the iOS Streaming plugin by a newer version of ffmpeg which seems to have some HLS support, I don't know if that would help much on Android.

There is no such thing as a magic streaming protocol for Android... Apple has its HLS (HTTP Live Streaming), which Android has never supported properly natively.

Is there any possibility you could add a new feature? I've already posted in the forums about having an Android app that could send messages to my YAC listeners (http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...d=1#post549226). It's gotten a few +1's.

Maybe the IOS app as well?

Bobby

As a first test, I'd suggest that you try it with the custom buttons in SageTCPServer... That would be a fixed message, but if it works, I can build on it...

From the SageTCPServer developer wiki or look at this thread:

EXE

Execute a command on the SageTV Server.

EXE:C:/sageextctrl.exe 192.168.0.105 on
EXE:C:\\sageextctrl.exe 192.168.0.105 off

EXC

Execute a command on the SageTV Client. It should take any number of parameters, just separate them by |.

EXC:Program.exe|paramater1|parameter2|...|parameterN
