It's a long weekend in Canada, so I was planning on watching the iOS WWDC and Google IO videos...

If you made it to the part of the video with the engineer who was half awake (I've been there making these kinds of presentations ), he talks about the new device framework for getting content into Google TV from a media box. That's where it gets interesting and probably the foundation for Motorola cable boxes down the road.

Bought app - fantastic and well worth the money. Streaming option puts this over the top!

Hi,

I was trying to use this app with an Android tablet running Android 4.0 OS without success, I get the tumbnails for the recordings but if I try to play them or view the TV Guide my tablet says "Unfortunately, tasagetv has stopped".

For info I have VLC 0.9.8a and SageTCPServer, also and I can stream SageTV recording to the Android tablet from the "SageTV Mobile Web Interface" plugin

Is this a common problem or does it related to Android 4.0, or is it something different.

Thanks,

David

That sounds like a corrupted database. Go to Information --> Settings and hit the "Wipe the TaSageTV database" button.

As for the streaming, instead of using the Stream button, access the option menu and pick one of the other options, it should get you the equivalent of the "SageTV Mobile Web Interface" plugin.

Hi, I have bought an Asus Infinity TF700 and got streaming working with this software and VLC. When I use VLC 1.0.5 the image of the stream is oke, but very small on the screen. Haven't found a solution to get the stream full screen. When I use VLC 2.0.3 the screen is filled completely, but the image of the stream is stuttering / dissorted. It looks like VLC 2.0.3 is cropping the image to 16:9 in the right way, but 1.0.5 isn't unfortunately.

Is it possible to make the stream full screen with VLC 1.0.5 also or can I solve the stuttering / dissorted image with VLC 2.0.3?

For your information, I am using exactly the same input parameters for both versions of VLC:
Code:
soverlay,ab\=100,samplerate\=44100,channels\=2,acodec\=mp4a,vcodec\=h264,width\=352,height\=240,vfilter\="canvas{width\=352,height\=240,aspect\=16\:9}",fps\=25,vb\=200,venc\=x264{vbv-bufsize\=500,partitions\=all,level\=12,no-cabac,subme\=7,threads\=4,ref\=2,mixed-refs\=1,bframes\=0,min-keyint\=1,keyint\=50,trellis\=2,direct\=auto,qcomp\=0.0,qpmax\=51}
Kind regards,
Olaf.

One sugestion ...

You might want to seperate the "Stream" and "Delete" buttons. And add conformation when deleting a file.

Just tried the beta and big fingers deleted a recorded movie. It should not be that easy to do so. If there is protection then it is broken in Jelly Bean (4.1.1).

I have the TF300, and did not have much luck. The app installed, but I had a problem with the video play back. It was sugested that I did not setup the app correctly, but I could not see how to switch the default viewer through the app.

The iOS version does have a confirmation prompt for that, I guess no one asked for it on Android yet or I forgot about it...

You don't, you hit the option menu on the screen where you can press the stream/delete buttons...

Glad the movie I deleted, could be re-recorded. You should look into the confirmation button.

It's a pretty nice app though for what I saw of it. Good luck with it.

Hello everyone
My router took a dump and I had to buy a new one. So without me reading 71 pages worth of threads. Can anyone tell me what I need to do in the router? I believe I have to enable a couple of ports if I remember right to get my android app back working again.
Thanks in advance
Wayne

You can check the SageTV plugin SageTCPServer to see which ports are in use. Typically it's 9250 for the server, 926x for the clients (one port each) and 8080 for jetty web server. If you stream through VLC, then you would add 554 or such...

It's now in the version which requires registration (i.e. side-loaded through dropbox), I want to make more changes before submitting it to Google Play/Amazon...

Version 2.54

- Built against Android OS 4.1.
- Added a confirmation prompt to some delete buttons.

So, I got this app and running on my Android phone and Xoom tablet. It loads up my video and music collection. However, when I click on stream it keeps giving me: Sorry, I can't stream this video. I have tried with different apps like Mobo, Mplayer, etc. I can get it to stream on my Mac through the Sage Web. But on Android it won't stream any way I try. (I have 0.9.3 VLC installed).

Any suggestions?

Have you tried pressing the option key and using the other streaming options?

Ok, I didn't even know those existed.

I tried all of them. HTTP Stream OS 2.3 calls up a browser which in turn gives an error message. MX Video Ad calls up MXPlayer and the circle goes round and round but nothing happens. MX Video Demo pulls up some strange video. The other options don't do anything. This morning I changed the VLC profile as found on your wiki.

Any ideas?

OK, I guess I should be a little more patient. I tried with a few more videos and just let the app work and after a few minutes it started playing the video. So, it works fine.

I had two questions. Can your app stream music? And can it stream live tv from sage?

Thanks!

PS I am your neighbour across the river!

The streaming is really dependent on the Android device used... On some it works out of the box, some require extra video player and some just won't work. Then with VLC it also depends on the specific version, as they tend to break something different with each release...

Quote:

If VLC works for you, then yes. I've been meaning to look at the iOS streaming plugin source code to see if I could enable it there too, but so much to do, so little time...

Quote:

You can stream what is showing on the Status page and I think that file will already appear in the Recordings, thus be streamable...
