I did get it to work, but I see no improvement over 0.40, and got more errors.

taSageTV Registration Key Question!

I ordered the Software taSageTV last night and still do not have a registration key. I noticed there has been confusion about how to request the key in the past and I think have followed the instructions I found correctly but still no key?

Is this normal?

Cool App by the way! Now if I can just get it all working.

Jeff

As long as you included the ID from the registration screen, you will get it. If you haven't, then email it to the address displayed on the About screen.

Yes, as this is a manual process and David doesn't check that email address as often I check the forums/emails... We do have plans to change the whole process, but are waiting on some licensing software to expose more functionality over the web (mainly to move licensing between phones).

taSageTV Crashing on Samsung Galaxy S Epic 4G

I have the taSageTV APP running on my Samsung Epic but am having issues with the APP crashing. Seems to crash mostly when I try to go to recordings or other playback options. Is this a compatibility issue or ?

The message i get is:
Sorry!
The application TaSageTV (process tallus.android.sagetv) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
(Force Close)

Thanks Jeff

No one else has reported that so far, so I'd suggest getting a log collector and posting the result.

Had it once or twice trying to use Mirage low/high, never reported as it's still in beta and I didn;t expect miracles

Well, you're having Mirage crash, which is a different issue than having TaSageTv crash...

I guess I should have clarified my crashing. It is tasagetv that closes. I worded it wrong.

Double check your jetty username/password, as it's failing the authorization...

I double checked and reentered and it still force closed. I don't understand how the username/password can be wrong if I can connect and can start playing a video?

Well, if Mirage is playing the video, then TaSageTV is no longer involved so I don't see why it would crash due to a failed authorization...

Just to reiterate, I don't own any Android device nor can I test the streaming in the emulator... My involvement with the streaming is pretty much 10 lines of code out of a few thousands, to create a URL and have it handled by an external application and web server...

What you could probably do is sync the time on your Android device and SageTV server. Then restart SageTV and its service. Then launch TaSageTV, with frequent log dump, write down at which time your are trying which streaming option with the result... If you post those logs and the timeline, I could go through them more systematically.

Suggestions

Like what I see so far. Just a couple of suggestions for the remote side:
1.Dropdown at the top to switch clients
2.Mouse function
3.Keyboard support
4.Configuration option for global volume control.
5.Configuration option for a compact remote view

Right, I do have that on the iOS version, but back when I started TaSageTV, I was more concerned about maximizing the real estate for displaying everything else.

2.Mouse function
Not sure how I would do that, though generally you should be able to do most things with the arrows...

3.Keyboard support
Just added that to TiSageTV 1.34, so it is coming to TaSageTV...

4.Configuration option for global volume control.
That would probably fall within the custom buttons that I just added to SageTCPServer 2.1.2 + TiSageTV 1.34.

Well, I did ask people to submit other remote designs before, but no one did... What did you have in mind? Maybe the upcoming keyboard + custom buttons will do it...

There are a few apps out that have mouse control - like 'Unified Remote'. Since Netflix isn't integrated into Sage I'm finding myself picking up my keyboard/trackball pretty frequently.

Just added that to TiSageTV 1.34, so it is coming to TaSageTV...

Really just the basics and most things closer together - ideally fitting on one screen with pop downs or pop ups for menus (popup panel with the buttons that are at the top now for example). The base interface would simply be media controls - play/pause/ff/rew/stop/vol+-/chan+- etc. and a smaller arrow navigation pad.

- I didn't make the Remote control's graphics, so I don't have access to smaller arrows and such...

- Most people find the volume useless as they are going through their sound system...

- I use the "skip forward/back 2" and delete buttons all the time.

So as you can see, you can't please everyone with a basic remote, short of allowing for full customization using buttons with the same size and shape, or some complex screen editor...
