I have checked the ports several times in both. Amazingly, I did a phoenix update this morning, which made no difference and I just went back through and checked the ports again, along with the firewall and it suddenly started working again. I did find that the jetty port on tasage reverted to 8080 a couple of times before, I guess maybe it didn't stick when I reset it (several times)?

...and again this morning, the port has switched itself back on the device. Resetting it still leaves me with no images, very odd.

Are you sure you're not running any kind of Security Suite program like Norton or McAfee that may be turning off or blocking these ports?

No, nothing on internal network at all, firewall at the perimeter, which has had the same settings since I first set up for TaSage. What I find strange is that the thumnails haven't worked since I ran through updates on the server side and I was convinced something broke it within the updates, but then it worked for a while yesterday. I have the Jetty Port set to 8000, and it has reverted on my tablet to 8080 a couple of times for no apparent reason, but changing it back doesn't lead it to springing back to life. All a little odd.

So you are running the latest version of TaSageTV, and it keeps resetting the port to its default value? One obvious work around, until I figure out why it does that, would be to reset jetty to use that default port...

Version 1.60

- Fix: Was saving JettyPort but reading back PortJetty.

Version 1.59

- Changed the launch icon to match TiSageTV.

Installed 1.60, reset the correct port, now fine. I think it was a combination of TaSage doing its own thing with the port and the fact that my SwiftKey keyboard putting a space on the end of the port, which was invisible. The time it worked I must have put it in manually.
Thanks for your assistance.

Latest problem, lol....we seem to have lost the ability to only have one instance of vlc running. Spent a long while before on this and settled with vlc 1.0.0 because it worked, something broke with the last lot of updates because I get multiples killing the server processor again. Vlc hasn't been touched, but I checked to make sure it still has the box ticked for allow one instance, and the lines in Sage properties are as follows
Code:
sageTCPServer/streamingRTSPType=mp4a-latm
sageTCPServer/streamingTranscodeOptions=vcodec\=h264,venc\=x264{no-cabac,level\=12,vbv-maxrate\=384,vbv-bufsize\=1000,keyint\=75,ref\=3,bframes\=0},width\=320,height\=180,acodec\=mp4a,ab\=64,vb\=384

Any pointers would be appreciated?

Are you sure you didn't automatically update VLC at some point? Your init string still has "--one-instance", so it should be fine... Maybe check the log to make sure the VLC command is indeed using it.

Nope, still the same version, just been playing with it and it's stopped opening multiples again. Hopefully it was a temporary glitch. I have noticed that If you have an instance running and switch profiles it holds the previous profile when switching though. Kill the instance on the server and it will start a fresh with the new profile. On wifi I can get a watchable picture using my default profile, the others are too blocky to be useful. I'm still trying to find out if there is a way to force VLC to do a downmix of 5.1 to a 2 channel audio track too.

I decided to see if I can get streaming to work again. I have the vlc 1.0.0 installed. If I hit the play button it does start it on the sevrer client screen. But when I hit the stream I get the spinning circle and then the massage that says file cannot be displayed or played. I am also attaching the sape prop txt file.
Thanks
Wayne

Right, it's only the next time that you launch VLC with the new parameters that you will see a difference, nothing unexpected there...

Well, the first 2 profiles are worst than the default profile (i.e. for 3G use), the 3rd and 4th should be about the same, while the 5th and 6th should be superior, assuming enough bandwidth and CPU power...

According to the log, it does not start VLC: "[setVLC]: Cannot run program ""C:/Program": CreateProcess error=2, The system cannot find the file specified"... It seems not to like the space between "Program File", which doesn't make much sense as it's fine on mine and other users... What is the OS that you are using and the location of the the VLC.exe file?

But the instance doesn't terminate until it has finished playing the file, so you are stuck with it for a while. Unless there is a way around it that I haven't figured out.

I replaced the default with what I was using previously because it's ok, the others are all varying degrees of distortion, cpu never gets above 55%, no stuttering, just rough picture.

I am running win 7 sage 7 and the file is loacted @ C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe

I just went into the text file and found what you referenced above. Is it because it installed it into the program files X86 folder in stead of the regular program files folder?

I was under the impression that restarting a new stream would kill the previous instance and use the new parameters...

Then yes, you need to modify the SageTCPServer "VLC launch" parameter to match...

I uninstalled vlv and installed it into the other folder. But is still a no go. I am attaching the new log file. I don't see that previous error, but I don't know what else I am looking for.

Reading thru some of these posts I see you stated needing to run vlc 1.0.0. Is this required to get streaming to work over internet? I can streaming locally but get error that this video cannot be played. Using Android app with a Droid running gingerbread 2.3
I also get an error on the server screen when running vlc:
No accelerated IMDCT transform found.

I don't know, I don't own any Android device and it doesn't work in the simulator, so I have to rely on user's feedback...

Are you saying that you can stream to your Droid over wifi but not over 3G? If so, than make sure you have forwarded the streaming port (7070 in your case), or maybe try another one in case your provider is blocking it.

Sound like your server is missing an AC3 filter or has issues with it's h.264 encoder...

I uninstalled vlv and installed it into the other folder. But is still a no go.
Once you launched the streaming in TaSageTV, you can go to the About screen to see the URL it uses. Try using VLC on a machine on your network (start with the SageTV server itself, then iif you can try a different pc...) with that URL, to see if it works.
