Girder setup w/ATI Remote Wonder
Ok, I guess I'm just stupid.
Now that I've decided I am going to buy SageTV, I am trying to get things set up so that I can control everything from my ATI Remote Wonder (actually I would rather use my StreamZap remote, but it doesn't support SageTV...). I am assuming I need to use Girder for this. I downloaded Girder, the SageTV plugin, and the ATI Remote Wonder plugin. BUT, I can't figure out what the heck I need to do to set this up the rest of the way. I've never used Girder before, and honestly, it is baffling me. Can anyone take a few minutes and walk me through this? Or even point me towards some detailed instructions on another site for configuring this? Thanks in advance... Jason Bottjen |

Adding StreamZap support is on my list of things to do. I already have all the information on how to do it....I was more or less putting it off because no one had requested it. It'll be in the next build.

Sweet. Thank you! I'll just limp along until then and forget about Girder then I guess (although it would be neat to have both working if someone still has time to explain how to do it...).
I don't suppose you'll add recording time 'padding' too (adding an extra minute on the front and back of recordings automatically)? I am going to dearly miss that feature coming from WinXP MCE / Snapstream. Thanks again, Jason Quote:

I will add padding at some point; it too is on my list. But it's a lot more complicated than the StreamZap addition.
I've also thought about taking a different approach to padding. Instead of doing the padding on the recording....actually apply it to the EPG data. I mean, that IS where the mistake is, isn't it? It's about 10 times easier for me to adjust the actual data rather than adjust the way in which the data is interpreted. Any opinions on that route? I almost think this might be something that's benefited by a larger collaboration since it applies to everyone who receives that station. Maybe even some sort of large scale feedback system where you can tell your SageTV system that a recording started early/ended late and it would submit it to the server which would coalesce them all together and when it hit a critical mass it would make a global scheduling change that benefited everyone.....just thinkin' I mean if a whole lot of people are padding Friends...shouldn't the Intelligent Recording be intelligent enough to realize that? Of course now we're getting into collaborative intelligence....I think that's how the Matrix started....

Actually, padding in the EPG side (whether behind the scenes or visible to the end user) would work for me.
I padded EVERYTHING I recorded by 1 minute on the front and back with other PVRs universally. So it would work equally as well for me regardless where it is done. It would obviously have to be optional, and I'm note sure how you would handle the 'overlapping' of the shows in the EPG (unless you just hid it from the end user), but that is for you to figure out.
