Where is the latest phoenix

I just solved a problem I was having with the MovieWall plug-in by downloading the latest phoenix-69.zip
http://code.google.com/p/sagephoenix/updates/list

It may be just me but after finding out from a forum thread that I was behind several versions I did a quick search and found a link to a version that was even older than the one I had. Eventually I figured this out but it took me awhile to find out where to get the latest version which did solve my problem.

I am not sure how to solve the problem since I am sure there are lots of Alpha version of plug-ins sitting around that are not for general consumption and all plug-ins are probably always beta but there has to be a better way to be able to figure out what the latest stable version is and where to go to get it.

I think developers try to do it but each in there own way and sometimes it gets buried in a lot of other important information.

I have turned on several people to Sage that have complained about how hard it is to find plug-in. I usually end up sending them a direct link to the ones I think are worth downloading.

I would love to see Sage rethink the way they organize and advertise the customizations area. I think a lot of people would be much happier with the product if they knew more about the great stuff that is out there to enhance the base product.

I'll stop now it is starting to sound like a Rant.

SWKerr, I feel your pain... i really do. As the maintainer of the phoenix api (ie, the phoenix.jar) it does become a challenge to try and keep everything "working" especially when there's so much change. I typically don't announce new phoenix builds... because there are many, and most plugins that use the phoenix jar, either know that they are using a newer build and if so, they tell their users to grab that version. I normally bundle the jar with bmt, but I'll probably stop that as well... which will force me to make more regular phoenix builds as well.

My apologizies for your frustrations... I'll try to do a better job of keeping the core phoenix jars more current.

I appreciate your thoughtful comments but the Rant was more about what I think Sage needs to do to help its developers keep people better informed about plug-in capabilities and updates. Being somewhat addicted I don't seem to have a big problem myself but I would love to see them step up and make the use of plug-in more approachable to non-techies.

I think a link off the main site highlighting some of the major plug-ins would be great. Links on where to download and install them.

A plug-in area that listed:
Rank plug-in by download and by vote\Star system.
Download links for Stable Version and Beta Versions.
Requirements\Phoenix version etc.
Flag Plug-in no longer being supported.
Links to reviews and Documentation.
Links to support thread.
Better Classification of plug-in purpose\use
* A lot of this stuff exits just not consistently across developers.

those are good ideas... i'm sure sage is listening... it's not a small task, but in time, maybe there can be something in place like that.

Version Confusion ???

I am moving my last Vista box to Win7 and have run into a snag. I usually download the latest version of stuff with a new build and ended up with a problem.

I think the latest Forum linked Phoenix (phoenix-api-71) is missing something.
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/down...do=file&id=312

Install:
SageTVClient_V6_6_2Setup
sagemc_6_3_9a_full
phoenix-api-71

With these in place I can not enable Fanart in SageMC.
I have found that if I copy my trusty phoenix-69 over this setup the problem is solved.
I can then copy the phoenix-api-71 over the working setup and all is still good.

From here I can install SageMovieWallV4R1.01 and TVExplorer_1_01_040 without problems.
