Go here and install the native recording patch for Windows 7. Download the two files at the top of the first post and then follow the directions for installation.

OK, got that working, but now I'm finding that the .ts recordings play clearly but every six or seven seconds, the video hesitates for just a moment. Just enough to notice. They didn't before i upgraded to windows seven... Any ideas?

You may try a different decoder other than Microsoft. Arcsoft comes to mind. Unfortunately since Windows 7 isn't yet officially supported it's probably not something that will be fixed until the next version of SageTV.

Hmmm, The whole reason for going to 7 was because the decoder option was better. Is it just a matter that when they work it's great, when they don't it's unsupported?

Arcsoft is the one that came with the HD PVR's. If that's a good option, I should be able to get that one installed without headache, if it included the Win7 version.

Thanks again.

The Arcsoft decoder works fine under Windows 7. I have it installed for other purposes but I did verify that it works fine without the intermittent stutter. I personally prefer the Microsoft decoder. It seems to provide slightly better quality than Arcsoft. To me the Arcsoft decoder makes the image slightly fuzzy compared to the Microsoft decoder.

Mick...BOY does this sound familiar. See here: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47379

Bottom line, if you are using FSE, you must use the control in SageTV to maximize the window to full screen, NOT the windows control. It appears the windows control is not intelligent enough to grant FSE on it's own.

I ultimately found FSE to be very unreliable (as have many others it seems), so after weeks of fighting it, I have disabled it. Enter bug-a-boo number 2: For video display to work properly without FSE, you must have Aero and it seems all Aero eye-candy enabled. From my research it appears VSync correction is not enabled otherwise (even if you force it in the driver). This is an issue that started with Vista, FWIW.
