Why does SageTV keep recording watched items?

No matter if i set something as watched or not, sage continually re-records a lot of things. even if i go into upcoming recordings and see one coming up and mark it as watched, it still records it. For instance, I live in canada and favorited (<-- is that a word?) the new shows hiccups and dan for mayor. it recorded each one 3 times on 3 different channels, that is just an example, it happens a LOT. Any way to fix this?

It is all related to the EPG data & Show IDs for the airings; see this FAQ:
Does SageTV know enough to record a show only once? I see that one of my favorites is scheduled to air 3 times this week -- How many of those will be recorded?

i have it set up to try its hardest not to do this. but why if i go marked an upcoming show watched does it still record?

Are they actually Favorites or did you record any/all of them as Manual Recordings?

How long ago did you set it to be Watched? If it was right before the show started to record, it hasn't had time to update the schedule.

When looking at the detailed info for the recording, what does it say is the Show ID? As the FAQ says: if it can't tell that they are the same episodes, it won't know to record only 1 of them.

a good 6 hours ago i set it as watched and i have the try to detect non-unique show id's thingy turned on, but i guess it cant catch them all. Mythbusters is another one that gets done a lot.

I have some local small-time shows that don't have properly coded show IDs and thus Sage cannot distinguish if this is a new or rerun show. Such as "Sam The Cooking Guy" on a local cable-only channel.

This brings up the topic of Canadian EPG. Has something changed recently with how Sage does/doesn't get Canadian EPG? After going through the tedious task of remapping channels to get EPG and having it work fine for a while I now get no Canadian EPG at all. Rechecked mappings, changed mappings, defaulted mappings, remapped, there is nothing. Not even the OTA EPG that used to randomly appear if the channel wasn't remapped to a cable/sat channel.

So I'm wondering if Canadian EPG has anything to do with the OP's problem. I can't say if I have the same problem since I get no EPG for Canadian channels. U.S. channels are fine.

If your EPG data stopped updating, check this FAQ:

My Program Guide is no longer updating and is missing data for some or all of my channels. How can I get it to start updating again?

Been there done that. Will try it again. However since it is exactly every Canadian OTA channel that is not updating but on the same tuner every U.S. channel is updating it seems like something else is going on.

So I'll ask, what is the licensing from zap2it that we can expect for Sage? I hear that OTA only channels aren't included, are there any other caveats?
