Wiz.bin and properties file question
Ok, I know that these two files hold all the Sage settings and favorites, my question is, if I do a fresh install OS and Sage install and copy these files back into the Sage directory, will I be also copying settings which my have been the initial cause? All I would really like to be restoring is the shows infos that have already been recorded and so maintain them in Sage recorded shows directory, I do not want to keep all the Sage setup info due to not knowing if the setup is screwed and so needed to be dumped.
Anyone know if this is possible or is it a given that I will lose show info if I want a fresh install without any previous bugs? Patrick |

If you don't restore the wiz.bin then you will loose all your show information. If there was something wrong with Sage, the restoring those files will probably restore the problem, but if the problem was elsewhere it should be fine.
Did that answer your question? |

So it is an all or nothing restore with the wiz.bin file
Sucks losing the recorded show info.. should be a feature to backup those details. Patrick |

Well, my understanding is that the wiz.bin file contains all the database info like guide data, recording info, favorites, etc. So if you don't have a problem with that it shouldn't hurt. The sage.properties file contains the configuration info, like decoders, tuners, lineups, etc.
If I had to guess, I'd say your wiz.bin is probably fine unless you were having obvious problems like "NO DATA" in the guide. |
