It replaces the Recordings screen, doesn't it? Any way TV Explorer for v7 doesn't exist, does it? If you didn't get it out of the SageTV v7 plugin repository then you're using TV Explorer v6.

It links at the Sage recordings STYLE LINKS menu
which iirc, go to the recordings screen... hit options... under the view style on the right should be TVE (under All Recordings, etc...).

The version that i had in the works (will be uploaded to the repository once sagemc jar is there to depend on) links to the TV submenu on the main menu. The version that i had in the works is basically the same version as the one you linked to just uploaded into the repository (including all dependencies, etc)... when it gets there anyway

IIRC It should show up when you go to the TV->Recordings menu.

I finally got TV Explorer to pop up, but I'm not seeing anything when I'm there.

This is what I'm seeing.

see if anything in this post does anything for you (especially the part about the custom metadata property field)

it refers to a sageclient.properties file, but this is an extender. the sage.properties file on my server has MediaTitle in the custom metadate field.

Somehow, after playing with this for a while, I got names to show up on both the show column and the episode column, but no background images to make it readable against a white background.

Your sageclient.properties for the extender is in the SageTV\Clients folder on your server. It will be named with the MAC address of the extender, with a .properties extension.

Found it. Now, in that .properties file, there is no custom metadata line.

In my v6 version of my .properties file for my extender, there is all of this that references TVExplorer. Should I copy it to the v7 .properties file (nothing there references TV Explorer) or will the world explode?

@ ohpleaseno - gather some debug logs and post those.... perhaps something else is missing

The world will not explode, but the settings will probably be ignored. If I recall I slightly changed the setting names to avoid a conflict with TVE for SageMC. If you look at the settings I think it will be obvious. (I'm on vacation now and can't access the code.)

I'm waiting for mike to seperate the sagemc jar out from the rest of the sagemc dependency files so i can just depend on the jar, then I'll upload the manifest... the version that tom posted awhile ago is basically the same thing that will make it into the repository.

there is no update on v2 though... i probably won't start working on it until the fall when i have time again...

on my second run through getting v7 set up and I'm back to my original problem in TV Explorer.

Here is the debug log. let me know if there is anything in here that points to what I need to fix.

I've tried looking through the client properties for my extender and did a full media reimport and rescan. still nothing shows up in my TVE window just icons.

Thanks for looking.

@ohpleaseno - do you by any chance have the ortus trailers plugin installed? That will cause errors between that plugin and this one because the new core ortus api (that TVE depends on) is not backwards compatible.

EDIT: your log is showing some ortus api functions that aren't being found... which leads me to believe that its potentially a conflict there... and it also leads me to believe that you have the ortus trailers stvi installed...

I have everything working great now, but I'm having issues with one thing.

Is there an option to do a title mask so that the episode list shows "S01E01 - Episode Title". Right now it is all the Show Title after SxxExx. Is that a BMT thing?

there's a couple of incompatibilities between bmt 4.1+, the latest phoenix builds, and the last builds of TVE. Sean changed a couple things regarding title masks, etc and it broke some features of TVE. here is some posts with background... i believe there's also some info in the bmt thread... I havent had a chance to look at the code yet and fix it...

Thanks for the info. Glad to know it's not a setting that I'm missing.

And FWIW, getting TVE working on v7 was the thing that finally let me switch over. My wife is not easily retrainable.

I don't see an answer to this in the thread so...
I love the idea of this and would like to get it working using v7, and thought I'd give it a try (used to work fine in v6). I see that others have it working well but I'm running into one small problem. Everything seems to work, but I can't see any highlighting/focus on menu options so have no idea what's being selected. The screen seems to update/refresh to whatever was selected, help messages show up at the bottom detailing options available, etc. I just can' see the highlighting curor/menu. Any suggestions?
