V7 STVI
Thanks for the reply. I installed the "early adopters" version for V7 you posted. That is the one with no cursor highlights..
I appreiciate the hard work, and totally understand the need for patience. Now my wife, well that is another story....LOL. Rob |

@robmich - Tom's dl is missing some images... If you can't wait for the official plugin you can get them by copying the contents of the /images dir from toms v6 port to /stvs/sagetv7/tvexplorer/images

This solved a lot of problems. IMHO this is one of 5 essential plugins for SageTV. Thanks so much

I just started using this plugin and it looks pretty good. A problem I found for me is that it truncates the name of a episode if it is over 25 characters. For instance:
a title like "Doctor Who - The Time of Angles; Flesh and Stone" Shows "Doctor Who" on the left column and "The time of Angles; Flesh..." in the right hand column (episode list). Anyone else have this problem? I tried to change the Episode->Title Length setting and it does not seem to affect this. thanks. |

I have another question: What are the steps to get fan art working (to get it to look like the "advertisement"). I just figured I could install phoenix, TVE, and run some sort of grabber engine that got some jpegs and made metadata files (grabbed mediascraper and ran it). There is a bunch of info on the forums, but alot applies to the sageMC version and I am not sure what applies to this one. The directions for this one don't seem to cover it at all.
thanks. |

Well I got BMT mostly set up (couldn't see fanart yet) but I found a big snag that I wanted to ask someone about before I continued...
I setup BMT via the guides and then I had BMT scan via it's jetty webpage. Troubling thing is that it had problems identifying some of the shows recorded. Like the show "chuck" with filenames like "Chuck-ChuckVersustheSubwayChuckVersustheRingPartII-9512057-0.mpg" It messed up identifying the episode name and the episode was labeled wrong in the UI. I saw some things on the forum about filenaming...Does BMT have problems identifying episodes because it is using only the filename for reference? Since this is a compound episode, that it would be very difficult to figure out what the whole name is. and 24 was a real bust, since it has strange episode names. I am guessing that the metadata that sage has (in wiz.bin) is not available for BMT to use for this? How do you guys work around this? Manually rename files? Has this changed in v7? thanks for all your help, guys (and gals if applicable) |

Recent changes in BMT 4.1 and 4.2 pretty much make the TVE port for the default UI in V7 non-functional for me. After upgrading to 4.2, I had to re-import a few folders containing entire TV Series. For those re-imported series, the episode panel in TVE only displays the series name and not the episode name. Is this something that can be fixed? I looked at the code and just don't have the skill required.

yes it can be fixed... but my guess (without running bmt 4.1/.2) is sean removing the title masks in the most recent builds is the problem. My guess is that it will need to be fixed in the tve jar... unfortunately the fix will probably break all metadata done before 4.1 so you'll have to recreate all the metadata with 4.1 or later.... No ETA one when I'll get to checking out a fix but I'll try to figure it out sometime soon.

That being said, in the pre 4.1 release, BMT would populate a custom field, "EpisodeTitle" with the episode title, and it would popule the "Title" field with the Show Name, ie, "House", "CSI: Miami", etc. In 4.1+ builds, SageTV has a field EpisodeName, which holds the Show's Episode Title, so I'm using that field. So, if you want to make your code work in all the 4.x releases, you'd want to call GetMediaFileMetadata("EpisodeName") and if that returns nothing, then call, GetMediaFileMetadata("EpisodeTitle"). You can get the show title using GetMediaFileMetadata("Title").

Can I ask why you started to use EpisodeName instead of EpisodeTitle? Is EpisodeName a default field now that i somehow missed?

BTW... I just noticed from another post, another change that bmt 4.1 did. Previously in pre 4.1 releases, the UserRating field held a String that was extracted from some source, which could be, "9.5", "9.5/10", etc. In 4.1+, each of my providers will pull out the UserRating field and convert it to a number between 0 and 100. ie, a rating of "9.5" is actually stored as 95 and a rating of "8.5/10" is stored as 85. This was done to make dealing with the ratings more usable from a UI perspective. But again, this pushes this back to the plugins to ensure that if they display a user rating, then they can choose to display it as number, fraction or even graphically.

To be more specific, I've installed TV Explorer for v7, but can't find where to access it in the UI. Any help?
