Avermedia G2 + Directv D12-100?

Hey everyone. I'm evaluating SageTV because of it's client server ability and I'm trying to get the computer with the tuner card set up right now.

My main computer is the one with the tuners and for now I have one directv D12-100 box hooked up to it with coaxial. I set it up with windows media center to ensure functionality and all is good. But my use case is that the computer I do all my work on has the tuner card (it's PCI-E) and the computer in my home theater room is a little old and doesn't have PCI-E otherwise I'd move the tuner card and simplify matters. I'm not sure SageTV will do what I want, but from what I read it will. I want to be able to use the tuner from the theater room as if I were on my main computer. with the client application.

I'm having difficulty setting up the tuner though. I own this tuner card with the remote and IR receiver/blaster.

I'm in the setup wizard and got the the select a tuning option for Avermedia Cx23888 video capture TV Tuner, and I select use the receiver to change the channel, I told it to use channel 3, but after that everything goes south.

The option I clicked sits for a second, and then the all, one by one, are removed from the list until the only option left is do not tune or something like that.


Basically I'm clueless here as what to do. Is there any other software that offers a client like this? Can I get this working with my current setup? I understand you all have stuff to do, but I'm really trying to learn here. I'm going to keep googling and reading as much as I can. I'm setting up my first real home theater (100" screen with Sharp DT510 project = awesome) and the pvr bit is turning out to be more in depth than I thought.
