only record once a day?

Hello all,

I was wondering if there is a way to record only 1 of two airing of a favorite per day?
Ex. Judging Amy is on TNT at Noon & 4PM. They run in order and I have all eps except for season 3 which is starting to run tommorow in the Noon slot, The 4PM slot is running through the middle of season 4 right now, So I only need it to record at Noon. Is this possible or do I have to go through the upcoming recordings and set ALL the 4pm to watched? This would be annoying considering that the recording guide only goes to 3 days and thias is only one of many examples I am having this problem with.
Thanx in advance to any who can help.

Well, if you watched Season 3 with Sage, then it won't re-record them, but I'm not sure if it's possible to tell it which one to record when it's on the same channel.

You've got a few options:

Create a Timed Recording (Schedule Recordings menu) for just the one you want to record. Problem: a) I don't know if it tracks the actual episode recorded so that it can mark it as watched. b) If the show changes time slots, you have to modify the timed recording setup to follow it.

Mark the episodes that you've already seen as 'watched'. Note that while the scheduled recordings list is set for 3 days in advance, the guide dtaa extends for 2 weeks. If you view the details for one episode & then view Additional Airings, you can see all of those shows listed in the guide for the next 2 weeks.

Let them record; mark them as watched; manually delete or let SageTV delete at its convenience.

If they had happened to be on different channels, you could set up the favorite to record only from 1 specific channel.
Thanx Andy

I did not know I could set watched from guide as well. This is not that inconvient, just as long as I didn't have to do every "3" days.
I need a 3rd or even 4th pvr-usb2 so I can just let everything record and delete as needed. Anyways, Thanx

I haven't experienced this. For me it won't record an episode if either (a) it has been marked as watched or (b) it hasn't, but I still have the program in my Sage Recordings.

I record Charlie Rose and PBS News Hour which each come on 3 or more times per day, and Andy Griffith which is on the night /repeat next afternoon cycle. I've never gotten dupes unless I delete it before marking it watched.

tbpub2: was that a question, or just some comments? dvd_maniac was referring to some shows that aren't the same -- different episodes on at different times of the day; same channel.

Since you recently registered... If you are curious about how SageTV works regarding recording watched and/or currently recorded shows again, please see the FAQ entry for this topic.

The reason it didn't look like a question is because it wasn't a question. You're right, I misread the OP's question.
