So should I get the PVR350, or a video card with TV out?
I'm outputting to a regular TV (non-HDTV), so what's the better option here? I would like to (maybe in the future) have multiple tuners though it's likely not for any time soon.
I appreciate any help, thanks! |

For me, the answer was to not use the 350's svideo_out.
If you want to view pictures or play video files other than MPEG2s, the 350's svideo_out will not suffice. The 350's decoder is only designed to handle MPEG2 - you would need to transcode to get other formats to work. The svideo_out is connected of course to the output of the onboard decoder Also, some people have complained of difficulties in using the OSD with this. I started out with a 350, but switched over to using an NVIDIA 4200Ti card's output because I use my SagePC to pull images (JPEGs) and movies (AVIs - not sure of the subformat) I have taken on my digital camera and stored on a PC on my network. -O-

Look here 1 thread over for a discussion
http://forums.freytechnologies.com/f...&threadid=4295 I say video card is better. No PVR crashes, you can use all V16s if you want (with the 350 you have to hunt up v15 pvr250s which can be harder). Most people here say 350 because of PQ. I say if you are anal about PQ, you should have HDTV ANYWAY, so if you don't, use video card ![]() |

I'm glad I can do both, watching my SageTV on my LDTV (low definition) looks noticeably better using the 350 tvo than my BBATI 9200 s-video out. I'm anal about getting the best PQ possible on my budget. I switch video source to the ATI for everything else. I recommend a couple advil for web browing tho.
