WHS Firewire Recording

Switched over from vista to WHS.

Had Firewire channel changing and recording working fine on VISTA.

I've tried everything but can not get recording to work on WHS. Channel changing is fine.

I don't know what to do anymore, anybody have any steps to take. I've been runnig firewire since 2007 on xp and vista and never had an issue.

Maybe WHS can't record firewire?

When I try to view in VLC VLC does nothing, then I can' even quit VLC and have to exit using the task manager.

Thank you All

You have to remember that WHS is a server OS and not a multimedia OS. By default even Windows Media Player won't work without workarounds. You need to make sure any DirectX and other multimedia components are installed. I'm not sure of how many, id any people have firewire recording working on WHS. Channel changing-yes.

That's what I was afraid of.

I'll run the hdpvr with firewire changing and svideo on the other box.

Hopefully someone may be doing this.

I saw your posts in the other forum, good info!.

I started this outside the firewire thread so if we find an answer and it is no, i can update the first post so people can see that right away.
