That sounds like babgvant's SageMC tuner "plugin".

Is cablecard still not able to handle switched video or has that been fixed?

I spoke with Jason of SiliconDust (article HERE) and he did say they were going to have a meeting with SageTV on Saturday, but not specifically about their new product.
CocoonTech tried getting hold of SageTV while at CES, but was unsuccessful. They were not shown in any of the exhibitor listings. I would have really liked to have spoken with them while they were here at the show. Maybe next year we can set something up? Last edited by bravesirrobbin; 01-10-2010 at 11:14 AM. |

How Does It Know?
I've been reading up a little on this device and I have a basic question that I do not understand. Silicondust is saying that for anything other than in the clear QAM this device will only work with WMC7. What I do not understand is how the device knows for sure what it is talking to.
The HDHR is a networked tuner so what prevents an application talking to it from "fibbing" and telling it that it's Windows MC 7? I'm not a network engineer so I'm sure there's a simple answer to this. Thanks, Tom

So, presumably SiliconDust is still talking to CableLabs trying to figure out if the same thing has to be done with their device. That is, if the data (i.e. video) and command channels need to always be encrypted with DRM, or if only flagged video content must be protected with DRM. If only flagged content must be protected, then the device really ought to work with Sage on any OS. But, if SiliconDust has to use DRM tunnels between the device and the OS, then there's still some hope that Sage can work officially with the SiliconDust for copy-freely content, but you'd at least have to run Windows 7. |

silicon dust hdhomerun cable card 3, that's right 3 tuners
http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/11/h...me-for-the-ho/
I so need this yesterday, plus this http://babgvant.com/blogs/andyvt/arc...l-release.aspx Then I am so happy. HD pvr for protected content (HBO etc.) and the loss of QAM isn't a big deal anymore. * merged; discover it again for the very first time *
