Dish Network support?
I've been following the PVR software scene for a while, and this product looks like the first thing that actually could work well for high quality recording and networked playback.
Questions: How would you setup for Dish Network receiver control? I know there are some IR devices which would be required, is there custom setup required as well to program the remote codes? Any documentation on this? Thanks, Darren |

A ready come with Dish Network IR file being this receiver is real pain neck to get working all you do when add com post pick DishSatelliteReceiver1 and you all set.

To clarify:
To use SageTV with Dish Network, you must have an Actisys IR-200L IR transmitter. The files you need to control the Actisys for a Dish Network receiver are included with SageTV. You will need to have your Dish receiver set to remote address 1. If there's demand for it, we will create the control files to control different Dish Network remote addresses as well. I've been using SageTV with Dish Network for about 4 months now, and it does work really well. |

What Dish receivers?
Great to hear that works well with Dish receiver and already have control file.
Which receivers does it support? I have the 6000 and an olders standard def one. -Darren |

Just make sure the your remote is on Remote Address 1 for the Dish receiver you can see in the push on SYS Info button if have one then it should work, I have DishNetworks 301

It should support every dish receiver except possibly the Dishplayer because I don't believe that the remote address 1 IR codes for the number keys have ever changed. I might be wrong about this, but I don't think so. Personally, I have used the IR control on a 2800, a 4900, a 6000, a 501, and a 508.

I have a dish network model 3000 and a uhf controlled model 4000 circa 1996.
I have tried several things to get ir controll of my stb using an act ir200L. your product shows the most promise for me but it only has about a 20% cance of working per digit. I tried setting up a file for my controller and my results were. dish 57600 358 3 600 1000 compared to DishNetwork 40069 520 3 600 1000 So it looks like a different bit rate and carrier freq. But that could be from bad readings. While searching online I found the website http://ir.premisesystems.com/search....l=300050003700 and they had a code for "1" of 0000 0046 0000 000B 0019 0252 0019 0115 0019 0115 0019 00AB 0019 0115 0019 0115 0019 0115 0019 0115 0019 0115 0019 0115 0019 0115 I am not sure what this might mean ( I was hoping some one here did) your standard "1" is 566 n fe ff f7 ef df f7 df bf 7f ff fe fd fb f7 ff df bf 7f df bf ff fe fd fb f7 ef df ff 7f ff fe 7d ff fe fd f7 ef df bf 7f I thought their number maybe needed to be translated into hex and then I saw a 000b and 00ab. I dont know if this is any help because I didnt help me. I am also a bit upset that my friend can change channels with a sony clio but I cant get it with about 3 different programs. I dont want to upgrade stb unless its a HD decoder (for my hd ready tv) so I do want to get this to work. Does anyone have any insight on older equipment? or some new things to try? I only have about 6 days left on my trial and I am glad that I can get at least some response with this product. |

I was reading this
http://www.carltonbale.com/dish/4000/ when I come cross this maybe this help you To tell the satellite receiver to look for an IR signal, you will need to activate IR in the satellite receiver software. The UHF portion of the remote will continue to operate as normal, you're just adding the IR. Using your UHF remote (or front panel buttons on the receiver), power on the receiver and enter the following key sequence: Menu 6 ("System Setup" menu item) 1 ("Installation" menu item) 3 ("System Info" menu item) This will bring you to a screen showing specific system info. From this screen, you will activate the IR by pressing the following key sequence: Info Browse (Right arrow button) Theme (Left arrow button) The screen will redraw and the letters "IR" will appear next to the Remote Address number. |

ok.. I have played with it some more. yes I am using your dish .ir file (copied to a different name so I can make changes)
after makeing a few changes to the ir delay all the way up to 1500 I noticed a few things and started taking notes 1 worked three out of 12 tries or 25% 2 7/12 3 3/12 4 5/12 5 12/12 6 12/12 7 7/12 8 2/12 9 12/12 0 12/12 so as long as i want a channel with only the numbers 5,6,9 I am golden.(lol) I played with the delays some more and noticed that the default 600 worked fine for the numbers that it could hit. I have tried placing the 200L in both the position in your refered to picture and 3-4 in straight in front pointed right at the sensor. Neither seemed to have an advantage over the other as long as I tried 5,6 or 9. Therefore I am starting to believe I need some different codes for the other numbers (though some I am sure are closer than others). I tried to just reprogram a number and it locked up my machine. I am sure this was caused by the program looking for a specific carrier/bitrate and not seeing it coming from my remote. (100% cpu time waiting and it was easier to restart than wait for controll). I tried just programing new codes hoping that I could paste those under the correct carrieer/bitrate and I got this. dish 57600 359 0 600 800 1 27 n fe ff fb 9 r fe 15 r be 2 27 n fe ff fb 9 r fe 15 r be 3 27 n fe ff fb 9 r fe 21 r be ef 4 27 n fe ff fb 9 r fe 15 r be obviously not enough data ( or similar enough to be of use to me though someone may have a suggestion.) Does anyone have any ideas on some new codes to try for a few digits or a systematic approach for changing / trying new numbers. sidebar------ I am almost tempted to just copy and make a few changes to the ir file and see which changes may work better. It would be easier to make a program an type in the numbers as they apear and let the program permutate and deceide which changes bring the best results, but I dont have the programing knowledge or the knowledge of the ir driver to make that happen. one more side note: I am running this on a 2100+xp machine running windows xp pro. could a faster processor screw up the timing compared to a slower 600? or is the timing taken care of with the system clocks so the cpu is actually waiting to start\stop the pulses? |

You can also use Girder, it likely supports that hardware

Similar Problem
I can't seem to get my Dishnetwork recievers to work either. My reciever is by Macrovision, model 2700. It would not automatically set up in Sage, so I built an IR file from codes off of remotecentral. Following is what I have, can someone tell me what is wrong?

When I had Dish Network and a JVC 301 receiver, I used the following IR file named JVC301.ir with a USB-UIRT:

When I had Dish Network, I had some trouble getting the USB-UIRT to work with the JVC 301 reciever (before I deployed the JVC301.ir file. There is an IR Helper utility that will let you see the data that is received by the USB-UIRT by your remote control(s).
