How do I swap and reset channel maps?

I have two types of tuners. I first got an HDHR (now I have two of them) and set it up with my local channel map, called "Comcast Digital - Berkeley". I did the scans, got all the special clearQAM channels right, etc. Then I got an HDPVR, and a set-top box to plug it in to. When I created the device, I told sage to make a copy of the channel map, rather than use the same one, because of course the STB gets more channels, and finds them in different places (702 instead of 87.1 or whatever). Sage calls this second channel map "video0 component".

The problem is that comcast keeps throwing new channels my way. Sage somehow learns about them and sends me messages, but it adds them to the wrong map. Most of these can't be tuned from the hdhr, but it adds them to the "Comcast Digital - Berkeley" map. So, I need to watch for the messages and go in to manually delete these changes from that map, and add them to the "video0 component" map. The "Comcast Digital - Berkeley" map is now a weird hybrid of logical and physical channel numbers, many of which are disabled, and some of which are unidentified.

Ideally, I think I'd just like to start over. I'd like to get a clean copy of the local map with the logical channel numbers for use by the STB, create it with all the local channels that zap2it knows about without having sage do a scan because I don't think that will work well through the hdpvr, assign the hdpvr to it, and have it update automatically. Then, I'll create a new map for the HDHRs which, sadly, I'll need to maintain by hand.

How do I do that?

Alternatively, is there some way of getting Sage to update the "video0 component" map with new channels instead of (or at least in addition to) "Comcast Digital - Berkeley"?

Thanks for any help with this.

I believe sage only updates the main channel map, not any copies (it should warn you about this in source setup).

I don't think you need to copy any lineups at all. Just delete the HD-PVR lineup (copy) and create a new one.

OK, then how do I make a new "main" channel map? Or "reset" the main channel map? What defines which channel map is the "main" one - presumably something in Sage.properties?

Every channel lineup sage has is combined to one lineup that the Guide displays. Which ever lineups that are not copies are eligible for the channel lineup detection.

I havnt tried, but at the channel lineup setup, can you not just go to the normal new channel lineup procedure instead of choosing the "use or copy existing" lineup option?

Personally, I setup the HD-PVRs first. I do use copies for the HDHR's, but that is because I don't want my HDHR lineups getting new channels. They only get locals which never change..

Edit: Im not sure how you would swap other than deleting all the source with that lineup, and then reset them up with the HD-PVR coming first..

You don't need to reconfigure the tuners; reconfigure only the lineup for each tuner in the Source Details menu. Set up the HD-PVR's lineup first, then configure the HDHRs.

See the HDHR instructions in the hardware forum via the tuner configuration tips sticky. You could most like choose to use no lineup for the HDHRs and end up with them only having the channels they can receive instead of everything on the digital cable lineup w/only a few enabled.
