Question Transcode File To Network Location?

Everytime I try to transcode a file to a destination other than the recordings drive it fails. I want to either be able to plug a usb drive into the HD200 and transcode the files there, or transcode the files to a network shared folder on another computer. I have a Zen vision W and I want to transode video files directly on it. I want to be able to pick random videos/recordings and set them to transcode directly to the device so that its loaded and ready to go when the transcoding is finished. This is for my wife so i'm trying to keep the process simple.

Fails how? What error message are you getting? Are you sure the SageTV service has write permission for that drive or device?

The error message i get is in the transcoding status bar where you select whether to wait or continue using sage. Down at the bottom where it says status is reads failed. What user do i need to have sage service running under? I think i have all premisions set for said folders. i'll find out for sure when no one is using it.

OK, I can set the destination for a transcoded video to anywhere on the server, but anytime I try a network location it says "FAILED" in the transcoding status bar. I need some help with permissions, ect.

When i have a drive plugged into the hd200 i can access it from any pc in the house and copy to and from it no problem. On the extender though, it doesn't recognize the drive at all in extender mode. Works fine in standalone. All of my computers are on the same workgroup, i've allowed all permissions, tried disabling firewalls, i don't antivirus programs running, and i can copy files to and from any pc to another (as well as delete and modify) but i still can't send something from the extender to a network location. I'm gonna need some help on this one....

What user have you been setting permissions for? That's the user that SageTVService needs to log in as. In particular, if the service logs in as LocalSystem (the default), it cannot access any network resources (just the local system).

I run it under "remote" which has administrative privelages. I remote desktop into the server under this login. Its vista premium 32 (with a hack to enable RDP). All the shared folders on the other computers have all privelages enabled for "everyone".
