HD-100 Center Channel Downmix Problem
I'm having an issue with the center channel volume being under represented after the HD-100 downmixes from 5.1 to analog stereo.
I've got an HDHomeRun recording HD w/ 5.1 AC3 and it all sounds great through my HD-100 plugged into a receiver via HDMI. But, when I watch the same show on another HD-100 that's using a pair of analog RCA connectors for stereo audio, the center channel (frequently dialogue) is almost completely drowned out by music or background sounds. I noticed in the patch notes for firmware "20090611 1" that there is a comment about downmixing: "Fix 5.1 downmix when using software decoding" I was hoping my problem would be fixed but no dice. However, the comment suggests there are alternatives for how the HD-100 processes audio. Is there a way to get it to use a different method for downmixing? Thanks. Yorick |
