SageTV and TIVO "integration"

Hi there,

I am quite new at Sage but have my SageTV Server setup and an HD200 in extender mode. I am quite happy since it is incredible as far as viewing my media library and online services. I also have an HD Tivo from sometime ago with a dual stream cable card and an older Tivo in the bedroom.

Here comes the question :-) I'd like to replace the older tivo with just an HD200 and I am not quite ready to transition everything to sage quite yet for recording of liveTV (need more familiarity with HDPVR, OTA, IR controller, ...). Is there a way in the mean time to display Tivo recorded content on an extender ?

Not directly, no. If your Tivo has network capability you can copy recordings off it to your PC, but these copied files have Tivo DRM and must be played back on the PC using Tivo codecs. I don't think there's a way to play them on an extender.

If you're clever you could probably kluge something up that would involve using the Tivo to play back recordings, feeding the Tivo output into an analog capture card on your Sage machine, re-recording it there, and then streaming that recording to the extender. But this wouldn't be a seamless solution.

Thanks Greg, given my Tivo "server" is the same as my sage server I might not have DRM issues. I'll give it a try by "auto-uploading" Tivo recordings onto my server and into the sage multimedia folder.
