To help anyone else who comes along determine a solution...

When you uninstalled SageTV, did you delete the entire Frey directory to get rid of all the data files it creates?

The latest version of Java I have is 1.4.2_04... is that the one you have?

You say it "no longer works"... did it ever work? What version?

The null pointer error, to the best of my ability to determine is caused by something int he sage.properties file. Close sage, move the sage.properties to a diffrent directory and delete the sage.propertiesbackup. Restart sage. It should come up. You will have to reconfigure your channel setup and any other settings. This has happened to me with all but the first beta.
