Importing DVD-TS files in Sage default STV or SageMC STV

I have been dealing with this for a long time. I hope some of you who understand this more than me can give me some advice. I cannot get Sage to show any directory that contains TS files no matter what I do. The below listed screenshots show the directories and import selections in Sage. I have followed the instructions in Appendix I of the manual to the letter, but the files do not show up at all. I can load the default STV and do a media file search and they are listed and will run..not as a dvd but as separate XX.VOB file. In SageMC, I got nothing. I have done numerous "Refresh import media". I have used UNC and local import directories and no files are displayed. The directory in the screenshots is on the local drive of the server C:. I created the \public\DVD directory just to learn how to import them. Most of my Media files are on a 1.5 TB USB drive. All of my home made videos on that drive run fine as will as all my saved shows from my tuners so Sage is finding the directories on the USB drive just fine except for any directory with Video_TS files. The video TS files will play just fine in WMC and Nero Showtime just not in Sage.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gunny

If you followed Appendix I that folder layout is for DVDs that are ripped in the satndard format with .vob files. If you want to see .ts, or other file formats I think you just want to have it in a title folder. Only 1 level down from your DVD directory. Any file format is NOT going to show up as a DVD but as a Video. Make sure in Sage you set the menu SageMC to show All Videos. Maybe just changing that will let you see those .ts files so you can ignore my other comments.

Thanks Gerry
You and I have done this a few months back, but to no avail. I am confident that the directories are correct according to Appendix I. Yes I have looked in All Videos along with the rest of my video files ( downloads from my digital camera) and they just don't show up. We talked about third party software, and I have most of them installed. I know it has to be something basic because I can't be the only person not to be able to get this to work.

I have been looking at MrFusion's thread http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45531 and I am thinking about trying that. I just have to make sure I understand everything. The term "Fifth, point Sage at the destination directory to import the new "DVD"s." What does "Point" mean? Is that just listing the directory in the Sage Media Import section?

The files on your USB drive, did they also come from another machine before you attached it to the machine where Sage is installed? If so try right-clicking on the MainMove folder and choose Properties-Securities-Advanced-Owner tab. Click edit and add the user that you or the Sage service logs in as. Check the box Replace the owner on subcontainers and objects. Then click apply. When that process is done reboot the whole shebang and the try the DVD Movie thing again.

Is that "DVD" folder a real folder that really contains DVDs or a Windows 7 "Library".

It's a real folder in Vista. Nero and Windows Media have no problem finding them and playing them. It's just in Sage and that's why its so such a puzzle for me

Could you show us a directory listing of all the files in the VIDEO_TS Folder? (detailed view)

If you use the default STV, I take it you try to access the files from the Main menu by selecting Media Center then Videos

This is a screenshot I get for my imported blurays. I'm assuming when you ripped the DVD's you removed any copy protection using something like DVD Shrink or AnyDVD.

What is the full path to that Video_TS folder, and what path do you have as your import path in sage?

Are you using Sage in service mode? If so, try moving that DVD directory out of the \users\public folder, and into the root of the drive (I use an unraid box, and map a share on it to a drive letter, with folders under that). If you're using Sage in service mode, and haven't told it a specific user to use (using the LocalSystem account, the default), it probably won't have access to that specific folder, but should be able to use any location OUTSIDE of the \users\ folder. At the very least, try moving one DVD into an alternate location not under the c:\users\ tree just to test it out.

I moved the Video TS folder from the User\Public section to the Root of drive C: so the new import directory is set to C:\DVD.
When I go to Import Directories to set up a new one, the TS files are listed under sub-folders in the right window when I select C:\DVD. But it has always done this. After a re-scan of the media, the movies do not show up when MY Videos are selected. I Using Vista Home 32 with the server in Service Mode with a HD200 in the next room connected to my TV

Last night I loaded Sage on my Netbook with windows XP and it had no problems finding the Movies through the home network. I think my HP Media 8087 has things I don't know about. I am going to bring some garlic in tonight and hang it from the monitor to see if I can ward off the evil spirits
