Challenge: USB-UIRT

Hey Guys;

I've having a little trouble, maybe someone here has done something similar.

I am trying to get a new remote to turn on/off my Vizio GV47LF 47" LCD TV.

I am using the latest Sage/SageMC with Eventghost 0.3.7.r1194 and USB-UIRT

I have Eventghost with the Sage plugin working. I can control sage events through Eventghost and it recognizes the remote I want to program, a MCE remote. I can set this remote to use Sage through Eventghost.

What I've tried to do is under the Eventghost screen below:
Context Folder > Sage
Is to create a new macro "TV Power"
In it, I created an event and copied the MCE remote button code I would like to use code into it.

The remote will work Sage, both in Sage and using EventGhost, but it won't work the TV.
I created a transmit IR action. I followed the instructions to get the IR blast command to learn my Vizio remote code for power (pressed tv then power).

If I run the command, the IR blaster blinks. But at no direction, distance, or angle does it then work the TV on/off. The Vizio remote that comes with the TV works fine in controlling the TV independently from the computer.

The Event ghost screens:

The factory Vizio remote I am trying to get eventghost to learn:

Any suggestions? Let me know if I left out anything...

Kind Regards,

Chris

Nobody has tried this? The only way I can think of getting around this is a universal remote. I have never used one though, would it work? ..?

You need to relearn that IR code from the remote, it doesn't look right. Otherwise it'll work fine.

Also with EventGhost you can tie multiple commands togther like TV Power Off and SageTV Stop then SageTV Menu. This way you are never wasting a tuner and whenever you turn on the TV it's waiting at the main menu.

I'll look and see if you have discrete codes in the URC database, if so I'll try and get you the pronto codes Eventghost likes.

EDIT: It looks like there are discrete On/OFF and input commands for some Vizio TVs, whenever I stop my server I'll capture them and post em. Do you need input commands too?

The universal remote will work (it depends on the model you are looking at).

Also I don't understand what you are trying to do. Do you want to turn on the TV when you launch SageTV and turn it off when you shut down SageTV?

In any case, the IR code you seem to want to send is not the right one (this looks like a received USB-UIRT IR code, not a learned one).

I'm not familiar with EventGhost though here is a little guide for using a MCE Remote and blaster as a universal remote with LM Remote KeyMap : it will work in a same way for the USB-UIRT.

Basically you have to learn the IR codes (there is no confusion about this with my software) in a IR device (your TV) and reuse these learned IR codes in a "Blast" action as a response to a button press on your remote (or to a PC / Application events)

Regards,
Stéphane.

Thanks StephaneM and CollinR. I found the codes and figured out their input numbers thanks to your tip CollinR. It works now perfectly. It turns on the TV. maximizes SageTV, brings it to front, and enters the Main Menu. God I'm a nerd and love it... lolz

Lol the only trouble I have is with getting a button to work the TV in Sage. I tried setting up a 'custom4' in the main menu with Dynamic Menu's and copying over the IR transmit command into the custom4 Eventghost equivalent. Though Eventghost can work Sage it doesn't seem to work the other way around. (i.e. Sage controlling eventghost). I noticed there is an option to activate an external program. Is there some script I can copy here to activate a Eventghost macro?
