Keep at most - Can we keep newest?

I've noticed that keep at most will stop recording more episodes of a show when we haven't watched any and the limit is reached.

For shows like the news, is there any way to throw out the oldest, watched or not, when there's a new episode?

If you set a keep limit and also set the favorite to delete as needed for space, it will do what you're looking for. For example, I have multiple favorites for various late night talk shows, set to keep two and delete as space is needed. Regardless of whether or not Sage has plenty of space still, it will delete the oldest one whenever a new one gets recorded so that I always just have 2.

JuddMan: set the Favorite to allow auto deletion (AutoDelete = yes; see p. 69 of the PDF manual).

popechild: you are using SageMC option terms.

All shows of interest that are missed have autodelete set to Yes. They still get skipped.

It happens MOST with shows which have reached their keep at most limit, but sometimes Sage will just ignore a favourite for no reason at all!

Can you please tell me why this show is not recording right now?

The settings seem ok to me...

There's only one in the recordings section

In fact, only ONE of the four favourites you can see in that screenshot appears to be recording (or going to). I missed Junkyard wars, there are two in my recordings list, but not that one. here's the config for that:

The selected channel is correct (none of the others have future airings anyway), and i have a twin tuner, so the end time extension shouldn't be an issue

And no doubt, i will not be recording Red Dwarf tonight. (limit 5, 5 in collection, all marked unwatched, autodelete enabled).

Edit: yep, Red Dwarf is airing but not recording. I even deleted one of them to open up a slot before it started. Didn't work.

Why?

I believe Sage also relies upon the Episode ID. If the episode IDs ae all the same it won't record it because it thinks it already recorded it. You may be better off setting up a keyword favorite. (Keyword contains Mr Bean) That may fix your issue.

Since you are using XMLTV, my guess is that you have EPG data issues where SageTV thinks the shows are all the same. Until that is straightened out, you'll have the same issue no matter how the Favorites are configured.

Usually in that case sage marks the show as 'watched' in the EPG. That's what was happening before.

I'll look into the keyword recording. have never heard of that before.

Isn't that what the 'First runs' vs 'First runs and ReRuns' is supposed to be for? I somehow doubt the aussie TV networks really care about us leeching, commercial skipping non-certified non-drm-ridden viewers, and something that makes a nice unrestrictive PVR like Sage stop working properly is probably a good thing to them. In short, if it is fixed, i doubt it'll be in the networks end unless it starts affecting TiVO's (which can not skip commercials here)
