Comskip Keeps Being Disabled

Since upgrading to pre-release 17 my setting for auto comskip keeps getting ignored. I set it to enabled in the MC configuration and when I go to watch a video (with use global setting) it is disabled. I remember having this problem a while back, but I can't remember how I fixed it.

I'vw never been able to fix it and it's been happening for quite awhile in various versions. Sometimes it fixes itself and will be OK for awhile. And then without changing anything it just breaks. Seems more broken in the later versions including pre-17.

Look in ComskipMonitor Directory in SageTV/SageTV. Open cms.properties with notebook and look at the following:

Check and see if the comskipXX-XXX entry is the same as the directory listed above it for the comskip program files. Took me a while to figure out that when you change things (comskip update) it changes the directory but not the pointer in the cms.properties. I am currently using Comskip 80-025 so I just edited the line and changed the entry to the current number.

You could try renaming

...\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\SageMCE\comskip.def

to something else and restarting the UI. That should reset everything to obey the global setting.

I'm not talking about Comskip Monitor (I use DTB). I'm talking about using the comskip files.

I don't know what I did, but it is working again now. This is weird, but I'm not going to mess with it now that it is working.
