My Movies, DVD Profiler, or Something Else?

I have been doing a lot of reading here on the STV forum over the last few days as I have made the decision to get away from my Sony Disc Changer...HTPC...My Movies setup for watching DVDs. It is time to go digital as my music, picture, home movies, and docs are already there and this is the last step. The HTPC is overkill for what I am doing.

I haven't installed STV yet as I want to make sure I have thought this through and take things step by step. I have about 400 DVDs and of those currently have about 15 ripped to my WHS, my goal is to rip about 50 of the most used titles and keep the others in a binder to watch on the PS3.

Currently my method to index DVDs is to enter then in DVD Profiler and then export the XML file for import into My Movies. We have been using Netflix for the last year so we actually have only purchased a few DVDs in the last year so I don't do this very often, usually we watch and send it back but do purchase a few (like Harry Potter) that he kids like to watch over and over.

I really like DVD Profiler as I have been using it for years and know it well and think it is easy to use and it looks good but my reading here seems to show a few limitations, one of those appers to be it's inability to attach and manage fanart. To be honest I didn't even know fanart existed 3 days ago so I am not sure I need it.

My Movies seems like it may be overkill for me as it must be installed on my WHS and managed from my home computer which means installing net framework on my xp machine along with the MM2 software. The interface is also not as cool as DVDP.

Can I continue to use DVDP to index my DVDs both rips and discs or should I use a different option? Is there something else I should consider? While all of the meta data looks cool in reality a nice cover with a cool UI (DVD Wall) is probably all I need.

Yes I would continue to use dvdprofiler if that is what you like and use BMI to import the information (Fanart and metadata) into sagedb

For those that are using DVDP any suggestion on how to organize or identify DVD profiles to best work with SageTV? How do I identify if the DVDs I have are on my HDD or if I will need to use a disk?
