Stability problems PVR-250

I have a PVR-250 and I'm having trouble with it. After install of card using cd that came with card, and installing ms directx, sun java, and SageTV. It works fine for about 1 day, when I hit the live tv button, the card no longer responds. If I uninstall/reinstall, card and software same result, no response from card to live TV.

Then if I reload windows from scratch, followed by install, it works again.

The first time this happened (before the reload of windows), I returned the card. When it happened again on the 2nd card, I tried reload of windows, and it (temporarily) fixed it. I then moved the card to a second (new) PC and the same thing happened.

Repeating:

1) Install on virgin windows XP and card works.
2) wait 1 day, and it no longer responds to "Live TV" button.
3) try uninstall/reinstall, to no avail.
4) reinstall windows from scratch and then reinstall card and it works.

One thought I have, I was testing this in my computer room, where I don't have access to my cable (yet), but do have access to a roof mounted antenna. My house is old, and the wiring only has 2 prongs (no ground wire). With the antenna on the roof, there might be some static charge issue, but that seems far fetched. I suspect it is more likely I'm doing something wrong. Any sugestions?

Thanks in advance.

Rick

Frankly, I don't know how to set up win2000. I install it, and then go straight to sagetv.

I just did a remove of all of PVR 250 and Sagetv. reinstalled both win2000 and sage tv. win2000 works, but sagetv won't. (v1.4) (keep in mind it sagetv did work before on this machine. History:

1) install PVR-250, hardware and software driver, and win2000 (for 1st time on new dell 2.8Gp4, 512 ram, 80 gig drive).
2) install sagetv v1.4
3) system works for ~1day.
4) sageTV no longer works (pust live TV and nothing happens)
5) un-install hardware using Haup. hcwclear (download from their website)
6) remove all sofware re pvr-250 and sagetv via add/remove programs.
7) reinstall pvr 250 card drivers, win2000.
8) reinstall sageTV.
9) Win2000 works, but sagetv still doesn't .

Now I got SageTV working again. When I uninstalled SageTV, I did not delete the Frey directory, and it still remembered some of my settings. Just now, I uninstalled, deleted the frey directory, and reinstalled, and now its working.

So it looks like this is a configuration issue, but I'm not sure what I'm doing to screw it up.
