1) There's downloadable STVs? Wow, have I been asleep at the wheel. Guess I need to read the release notes to see what else has happened since, well, V2.0 as i've not really done much differently since then.
2) eh, ooops, sorry, you're right, that fixed it.

It is the desktop version of Hulu you install as an app. Get it from Hulu. And there is a fix you have to do in Studio for it to work from a client until the STV gets updated.

does it work with HD200 in extender mode?

Edit: Never mind I just read it doesn't work even on a client yet.

holy crap; i just spent all of 10 minutes downloading & configuring PlayOn, and doing that PlayOn SageTV plugin thingey, and now I can watch Hulu on my HD200 in extender mode!!!!!!

I just added SG-1 1st season to my queue, and watched the first 5 seconds. My 5 year old is next to me, so I didn't have the chance to watch it fully, but oy this is sweet!

I didn't see a 'netflix watch now' menu option, but presumably that's user error. I'll search on that before posting a question, though.

The option to launch the Hulu Desktop app is only available on a Windows PC.

The Playon Plugin is in the Customizations forum & is completely different.

YouTube Videos - Many Don't Play

I have the latest version and I tried installing codecs but I get error messages like:

Unable to determine the video file to download

or

Video does not have MPEG4, FLV or AVI file type

But - it works just fine if I go to Internet Explorer and go to Youtube.

Any suggestions?

Where can I get the latest STV?

System Information says I have 2009071001 and says Video updates are enabled.

In Detailed Setup go to Advanced and go to Update STV. Click the update button. You will go thru several upddates before you will have the most recent one.

There is a sticky at the top of this forum about all the latest STV updates.

It was in the PDF manual's list of new features (chapter 8) for v6.4 (p. 239) with a link to its description on p. 193. I strongly suggest at least reading chapter 8 after installing a new SageTV release.

today the frustrating "unable to determine the video file to download" message is back again on all youtube videos (yesterday was still working like a charme).
Please could you fix it again ?

The automatic online video properties file update (ver 2009102201) is in place to fix YouTube videos. The update will be downloaded within the next 24 hours when you jump to the Main Menu. To force the update sooner, simply rename your online video properties files then jump to the Main Menu.


The HD200 will need a firmware update to fix this in standalone mode. As usual: when a firmware update is available, the firmware notification thread in the announcements forum will be updated.

Well, I am also getting the "Unable to determine the video file to download" on 99.9% of the videos I select. I have STV version 2009102001 and SageTV is v6.6.2.218. Everything worked until I updated to 2009101301. How do I get it working again if the update did not fix it?

It was fixed in the STV update from earlier today (that included the 2009102201 online video update)... and then YouTube changed again... so I created online video version 2009102202 to fix it again. We'll see what happens tomorrow.
