Is my TV resolution 1080i or 480i?

I have a home theater setup that consists of a Motorola STB that outputs 1080i that connects both to my Hauppauge HD PVR and TV directly (two separate connections). When I go to the ArcSoft Total Media Extreme "record video" window on my PC it says the picture I am looking at has 1080 lines. So it looks like the signal through the STB, HD PVR and PC is 1080i.

When I input the picture to my Pioneer PDP-5020FD TV via my Sage HD Media Extender the TV displays that my resolution is 480i. But, if I view the TV picture directly from the STB the TV displays that my resolution is 1080i.

If I toggle back and forth between the SageTV picture and the direct STB picture I see a slight difference in quality, so I suspect that maybe the SageTV generated picture I see on my TV is 480i.

Is there a setting in my chain of devices I need to make to see 1080i quality on my TV when using SageTV path? Or am I really getting 1080i resolution, and the TV display is getting it wrong when it says 480i?

I don't think you've set up the video resolutions properly on the HD200 - I'm assuming its the HD200 you have and not the HD100.

Download the HD200 manual from here HD200 manual

and go to page 3 - look for Settings and under that Video output.

It talks you through setting up the resolutions the HD200 will output in.

You should be able to select 1080i there, or have a few resolutions enabled.

I have a SageTV HD100. I just discovered a button at the bottom of my remote control: "Video Out." I toggled this button and the resolutions change - now I have 1080i.

As a final note: the picture quality is about the same for all the available resolutions and slightly worse than viewing the picture directly from the STB.
