And post your system specs regardless of what you think is the problem. That's basic computer troubleshooting 101.

This is a legitimate, reproducible issue. I have a Internet speed of 120mbps down/10mbps up pipe with a low hop count and respective low latency per hop. Core animations off. Doesnt matter what javaheapsize I use. More than enough system resources (Intel quad core 2.4GHz, 4GB ram, Vista32 with latest SP and hotfixes).
I dont have any issues with other server/client apps through Internet as far as latency is concerned, in fact, it's some of the best low latency timings I've ever seen period. My client PC is an overkill for power and resources needed to do even the most intensive placeshifter task. I am able to stream video with Placeshifter maxed out on all values (highest res, highest bitrate (which is only 2000kbps). As soon as I push play, video starts streaming immediately with better than DVD quality streaming. Unfortunately, I still have these weird long pauses between menus. I've already reported this to sageTV development; unfortunately, none of the debug logs expose the issue. I think at this point, if there are people who dont have this problem; even on much lower quality internet connections and respective ISP networks. It would be great to know what they have different than the people who have this issue. I'd also like to know what the people that have this issue have in common. Whatever it is, it seems to point to sageTV->placeshifter; and, the way it handles some setups.

This thread kind of died; I didn't sound like there was any agreement that there is a real problem with Placeshifter menus, but I feel like I have one.
My Placeshifter menus take 30 seconds to respond (over the internet), but when it connects I can watch a video fine. If I log onto my machine with VNC, I can fire up SagRTV and get a 2 second response time. That makes me think it's Placeshifter and not my ISP, my server, or my remote computer. My server has an AMD Phenom II processor running Windows 7 and Sage/Placeshifter 7. Thoughts? BIll. |

Bill, I can't say much except that this issue has been fixed in the next public beta release.

I'm glad it's not just me, since I don't know how to change my javaheapsize. Or find it. The only heap I know about is the pile of remodel waste that Drew keeps promising to take to the dump.
It's really not workable for me right now so I hope it happens soon. |

I've noticed the very slow menus also. Video and audio streams are fine. Menus, not so much. Very laggy.
