Channel Setup Preview works - Watch TV does not

I am using the most current SageTV. HDHR firmware and software fully updated. HDHR View thru VLC shows the HD channel correctly. In Sage Channel Setup Preview shows the correct channel and previews correctly. Choosing the same channel from the Guide - does not work - just a black screen. arggghhh.

Does preview use different codecs than Watch TV?

Video set up is
MPEG2 video decoder - SageTV MPEG
MPEG4 Playback - Directshow
H.264 video filter - default

this is very frustrating...any help would be appreciated

Bonus question: M2TS files play in VLC, PDVD9 just fine. GraphStudio shows NO video decoder (how can it show nothing if it plays in two players?). Sage only plays the audio portion no Video.

Did you exactly follow these instructions, including scanning each HDHR tuner in SageTV, not just one of them?

Yes, those are the exact instructions I followed.

I recently reinstalled from scratch. Another Sage Afficiando reccommended I copy my old properties over the new one. Maybe he newer version has some settings that got overwritten. Could this be the problem?

I have looked for the default that came with the latest to compare. I am unsure which is the default now since I have so many around. Can you link me to an original default if you think this is the problem?

Check the various FAQs that are stuck at the top of the SageTV Software forum -- I don't think any of the FAQs I've written regarding starting with a fresh OS install or on a new PC include copying the properties files; in fact, I think my FAQs specifically state not to do that because it can cause problems. Wiz.bin should be kept, as directed in the FAQs.

If you are doing this on a new OS or new PC, I suggest deleting your properties files and reconfiguring. If you feel a need to keep properties from the old installation, then consider manually copying the few important properties that you need.

I won't guarantee that reconfiguring will solve your issue, but it is the best way to start on a new system.

Can you choose PDVD9 as your h.264 decoder? If not then it's not available as a directshow decoder. Search the forums or google on how to register the directshow codecs for PDVD9. I believe PDVD9 broke that similar to the latest TMT 3.
