Feature Request for Aspect Ratio

I use analog tuner internal with an 5:4 LCD 19".

I need to have aspect ratio set for live-tv to FILL ( that's means without black bars)
but videos set to aspect ratio: SOURCE, because majority of videos are 16:9 and i'm on 5:4, for that i need aspect ratio to Source for these videos.

If i set Fill to Live-tv then all of my videos is playing in Fill aspect ratio.

Could you pls put 2 options for aspect ratio in Sage?

One for Live-tv
Another for rest of the videos.

There's a plugin to do this here:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14146

But be sure to check the last couple of posts in that thread. The plugin has not been updated in a while, and users are experiencing mixed success.

Is your monitor actually 5:4 or just the resolution? You should be able to either change your Display Aspect Ratio to 4:3, or you could tweak your Source AR setting to slightly stretch everything to be the right size.

My LCD is an HP LP1965, 19", 1280x1024, i tried all options in sage regarding resize options.
Now i need to try that plugin mentioned here.

Working perfect now, i modify the setting for plugin to FILL for Live-TV and Source for the rest.

Here is the plugin:

http://tools.assembla.com/sageplugin...duleAutoAspect

Thank you petereader and stanger.

This is 1 strong motive to not go back to Win7 MCE, aspect ratio is crap there, hard to acces compare to Vista MCE.

Setting your DAR to 4:3 really should fix it just using source.

If i set to 4:3 i have 2 black bar on live-tv, i do not like that, that's why i use fill.

But i have an big problem with this plugin, if it's activated then i could not change my channels quickly, neither on remote or keyboard.
I click to change channels and channel change after 10 seconds or so.
If i deactivate the plugin channels switch ok.

Ufffff

EDIT:

I think that i remain to this:

Set Aspect Ratio Mode t 4:3
And Display Ratio Setting to 4:3

Both of them are found under Detailed Setup-Multimedia.

Display Aspect Ratio, in detailed setup multimedia? The menu with the circle in it where you pick between 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10?

I edited my previous post.

All the 1280x1024 LCD panels I've owned are physically 5:4, not 4:3, and so is this one, according to its specs:

http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/q.../12620_na.HTML

So 5:4 should be the correct DAR setting for this monitor.

Guess I've never paid that much attention. I'm just used to 4:3 CRTs that you'd run a 5:4 resolution on.

But regardless, if the OP wants stuff slightly stretched, to act like he's got a 4:3 display, setting the DAR to 4:3 is the way to do it.

That's assuming he doesn't mind distorting the UI graphics as well (so that, for instance, DVD icons would look elliptical). If he just wants to fill the screen with video, leaving the UI undistorted, the Aspect Ratio Settings are a better option.

winfastpvr2( default pvr of leadtek tuners) sagetv, mediacenter, christv, etc, all have 4:3 aspect ratio but no 5:4.
What can i do ......

Right now for SageTv i use Aspect Ratio Mode to SOURCE
and Display aspect ratio settings to 4:3

There are any options better than this 2 options set for me?

For wide lcd always we have 2 options, 16:10 and 16:09 , but for standard lcd only 4:3, this is discrimination:P

What are you looking for? Sage has a 5:4 DAR setting IIRC. And you can always define a custom DAR if you want, and make it anything you want (that's what I did for my 2.39:1 scope screen when I was running my HTPC).

You threw me with the "Sage doesn't have a 5:4" setting. I still don't know what you mean by that or the 16:10 comment. Nobody defines 5:4 or 16:10 aspect ratio modes because there is no 5:4 or 16:10 content. AR modes refer to the source aspect ratio, not the display.

You have several options, Tell Sage you have a 4:3 display, and it will stretch everything slightly assuming you have a 4:3 TV.

You could adjust the Source AR settings to either stretch vertically, or both directions. The former would be the same for video as setting the DAR, but would leave the menus right, the later would crop a bit off the sides of everything.

If i do 5:4 and fill, or 4:3 and Source, the image is strech on vertical.

I go to Aspect Ratio Settings and i set Horiz Strech and Vert. Strech to 109%, now i do not have those 2 black bars and the image it's not strech on vertical.

I found why it image seem strech.

Because i have 2 black bars on left and right on Vertical, always there no matter what settings i do.

With ChrisTV, Mediacenter, WinfastPVR2 i do not have black bar on both left and right sides. Maybe because Sage it's not optimised for Leadteks, only Hauppauge .

I do your tip and use Horiz Strech and Vert. Strech to 109%, no black bar on left, right,up,down, and image it's not strech.
