Did you restart SageTV after enabling server checkbox?

Can you ping your Sage server from the client? Are you using the machine name or the IP address? If you're using machine name, try IP address.

try this... open a command prompt on the client machine and enter:
telnet [server ip address] 42024 (substitute your server's IP address and omit the brackets) If your command prompt goes blank and the cursor just blinks and the window is locked up, then you have communicated with the SageTV server on its port. If on the other hand you get a message like: Connecting To [server ip address]...Could not open a connection to host on port 42024 : Connect failed then you either don't have a listening server or something is wrong with the network between client and server. If ping works and this doesn't, it might be a router config issue or perhaps the SageTV server really isn't listening. |

The single biggest problem I found was ZoneAlarm.
Otherwise, are you trying to connect via server name? If so, are they in the same workgroup? If you tried IP, are you using DHCP? Upon reboot the assigned IP may/will change depending upon your router. To check the asoftware on your server, you could always install a demo of the client on it, and see if the client can connect to the server on the same machine. |
