activkey: Permission denied
So I just purchased a license last night and am having a multitude of problems. I have a fresh install of Ubuntu. I downloaded the server and client deb's and attempted to install, this is where my problems began. Supposedly, the activation code will be requested during server install...nope. Tried both using gui and terminal. Both produced this error:
SageTV Server 6.6.2 Do you want to install the software package? [y/N]:y (Reading database ... 125392 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to replace sagetv-server 6.6.2-1 (using sagetv-server_6.6.2_i386.deb) ... Unpacking replacement sagetv-server ... Setting up sagetv-server (6.6.2-1) ... Restarting SageTV Server: sagetvChanging to SageTV directory /opt/sagetv/server nohup: ignoring input and appending output to `nohup.out' invoke-rc.d: initscript sagetv, action "restart" failed. dpkg: error processing sagetv-server (--install): subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 Errors were encountered while processing: sagetv-serverv Following some directions I found on the forum, I tried to manually start the server. I thought I was on to something because it asked me for my activation key. I put it in and got this error: ./keygen.sh: line 15: activkey: Permission denied Your license key will be activated. Press enter to continue Error: LicenseKeyFile activkey does not exist! cat: activkey: No such file or directory chmod: cannot access `/var/media/videos': No such file or directory chmod: cannot access `/var/media/pictures': No such file or directory chmod: cannot access `/var/media/music': No such file or directory Executing pre-scripts Starting server mode SageTV key not found. I've already disassembled my old XP MCE box and would like to get Sage up and running on my new Ubuntu box. Please help this poor noob! |

How did you do the install? The command should have been something like 'sudo gdebi install sagetv-server_6.6.2_i386.deb'. I originally tried to do it with synaptics and that caused major grief. Also, when you try to start it manually, are you doing it as a 'sudo'?

Thanks, I'm finally making some progress now. I uninstalled and then reinstalled using 'sudo dpkg -i ...' (I did sudo gdebi previously...same error message either way). Still no prompt for the activaction key. But I think what did it was the sudo to manually start the service. This time I was prompted for the key and it was accepted. I'm now working my way through the configuration wizard. Working on sound (none), remote control and a flickering overlay menu.
Thanks again for your help! |
