What do I need to watch mp4 hd?
Hi.
I downloaded a clip from vimeo and Sage lists it as an HD h.264 file. This is a Gspot capture: [IMG][/IMG] When I try to play it back I get a black screen and no messages. I tried with MP4 on directshow or on Sage but it's the same. On the same machine with VLC it works. In the codec properties, there are mp4a and avc1. What do I have to check in order to make it work with Sage? Thanks. Last edited by fabiotv; 08-20-2009 at 11:30 AM. Reason: typo |

Have you tried renaming it to mpg?

I've seen you ask this twice. Out of curiosity why do you think this will work? The file is clearly an mp4 container, not mpg. Renaming it to mpg at best would do nothing and at worst confuse the splitter.
Back on topic. Do you have an H.264 codec installed?

Because it does work sometimes depending on what codecs you have installed. Hello?

I've never ever heard that. It makes no sense to me.

I think I have because Sage plays regularly other files with h.264 icon on them.
The difference is this last one has the HD icon too. Which way I could check which codecs I have installed? Thanks. ... and no, renaming it to mpg doesn't make any difference. Thanks anyway. |

It's just a troubleshooting step. Makes plenty of sense to me and works often when I troubleshoot others.

Changing the file extension could work if a source filter is installed for one container (mpeg), while being able to split another container but doesn't register for it OOTB (or was configured that way during the install).
