New monitor confuses default GUI

I upgraded my monitor to a 23" widescreen from a 17" standard aspect ratio a couple of weeks ago. I can't run it at its native resolution, because of lack of video-card support, but that's ok until/unless I upgrade the card. The Sage gui, though, is now displaying an odd behavior: after being on for a while, I lose the right side of the gui. I get a rectangle which is part Sage GUI and part black background. This can be fixed by exiting/restarting the GUI or by switching to 320x240 mode, then back, but it's annoying. It's clearly related to the new monitor & possibly its running at non-native resolution. Is there any Sage setting I can tweak to fix this?
