Previous Channel Displayed for a Split Second on Channel Change with HD-PVR
Hey guys,
Question for the veterans out there.. Hoping someone has run across a solution for this one... Note that the following specifically applies to the HD-PVR tuner. In my current setup, when a channel is changed to a new channel, the previous channel is displayed for an instant (maybe 1/4-1/2 second) as the new channel is queued up and begins displaying on screen... This wouldn't seem like a huge issue, but when the previous channel is the Playboy channel or some other adult oriented channel and either I manually change or Sagetv automatically changes channels to either watch or record another channel, it can obviously be a problem. This occurs whether the last channel was currently being watched or not and occurs irregardless of parental settings. The split second previous channel displays either way. Here's an example: Viewer A is watching Adult channel X and hits the stop button when he's done viewing and leaves. Some time later, Sagetv automatically changes to record "The Jetsons".. The next Saturday morning, junior pops in to watch "The Jetsons" and gets a split second of "boom, boom" before his "Jetsons" episode starts... See what I mean.. Yikes! Again, I have parental controls turned on.. but it doesn't matter.. that split second still displays.. Is there any way to eliminate this from occurring? I've checked and don't see any kind of tuner delay setting, but I could have missed something... Hoping someone can give me some constructive input here.. |

There is a property in sage.properties that will increase the time Sage TV waits after tuning before displaying the picture.
1. Stop the SageTV server. 2. In the properties file locate the property (substituting your encoder id in the placeholder): mmc/encoders/<encoder id for hdpvr>/delay_to_wait_after_tuning 3. Set this property equal to whatever delay you desire. By default for the HDPVR, I think this is set to 4000 (microseconds). For example: mmc/encoders/-431556906/delay_to_wait_after_tuning=4000 4. Restart the SageTV server. |
