Protecing a directory of Videos
I am running the new version of Sage so I thought id ask, is there a feature top protect a directory from being shown or with a password, I have my DVDs rip'ed to a directory. I have a lot of R rated ones I don't want the kids to get to but shows up in the listing. Anyway to protect it so first its not even shown to them secondly, then password protected if they do get to it.
Thanks Andy |

I don't know a way to hide it entirely, but by making a <dvdname>.properties file for each movie as mentioned in the link below and turning on the Sage parental controls, you can set it up to require a pin for things like 'R' rated movies.

By default, there's no way to hide them completely. You can only do as dlapp said and use the parental controls to require a pin code to access content above a certain level. However, they'll still be listed, including descriptions and everything else.
If you use SageMC, the dynamic menus feature allows pin access to entire screens, which could include or exclude specific folders. This way, you could have multiple DVD folders to separate out the content you want: R-Rated Movies Movies Then create a menu item with a pin code which would include the first set of folders and a second menu item without a pin code which would exclude the first set of folders. If you want to see how this is done, do a search on either objectionable material or "pr0n" and you'll find it. Note that SageMC (although not necessarily SageMC's fault) is currently not filtering out other calls to "My Videos", so if you have a shortcut or button that brings up "My Videos", no filters will be applied and all content will be shown. I know I let Mike know about this a while ago, but he's busy with some other things, so I don't expect it to be fixed anytime soon. (That's not a dig, Mike... just stating my understanding of the situation. It's really not a big deal.)
