Genre Backgrounds and Banners

Here are the genre banners and backgrounds I use. I'm not certain on how to include SkyDrive links so please let me know if these do not work:

Backgrounds: http://cid-73abfc5f000111cf.skydrive...ackgrounds.zip

Banners: http://cid-73abfc5f000111cf.skydrive...es-Banners.zip

B,

It's on a Windows SkyDrive. Can you access other stuff on SkyDrive or just not these files?

Know of a better place I can post these?

v1.5 Posted

I just posted version 1.5 in the downloads section. You should use that instead of the file I attached in a previous post.

Sure, use Dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTQ5NzY5

Use that link we both get extra space.

These access fine through IE on a Windows machine.

Banners

Thanks for the genre banners. Can you tell me what the proper path to put these in so that they are read properly? it looks like ( if my root fanart folder is C:\fanart) that the path should be C:\fanart\banners\genre. Is this correct, do I just dump them all in this folder?
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

The proper location is described in the first post:

Quote:
- Place your Genre backgrounds in CENTRAL_FOLDER/Genres/genre_name where genre_name is a DIRECTORY that contains the background images. The directory name should be the genre (Shopping, War, etc.) and can contain as many images as you like.

- Place your Genre banners in CENTRAL_FOLDER/banners/Genre just as previously for Tiki's import.
Please let me know if you have any trouble.

i am running standard stv , cuurant btm and is configured for the new directory in the web site. I configured in stv fanart locations. the small show icon does work. I have malone online , metadatefart, sagemovie wall, phonix fanart.

This was working on a local drive, but when i moved it to a network drive then on the banners quit working.

John,

I'm not sure of what you mean when you say "moved it to a network drive". Are you saying you moved the fanart folder to a network drive and the banners stopped working?

Yes , Its a mapped drive off the NAS (unraid).
I also installed the playon pkugin as well recently
i have logging on and its apears that sage is looking in the right place
I get the small icons ,but not banners or backgrounds

What is the fun directory structure under fanart?
Does that work for all phoenix plugins?

John

Version 1.6 released:
  • Added support for Genres. If Genre banners or backgrounds are found they will be displayed. Note that if you create a folders called CENTRALFOLDER/Genre/Default/Banners and CENTRALFOLDER/Genres/Default/Backgrounds and then place images in them, all of your shows will have fanart.
  • Added support for Actors. If no images "phoenix" images or "Tiki" images are found, it will try to display actor images as a background.
  • Extends Tiki's BMITools to support the viewing and editing of Actor images as well as Category and SubCategory Genre images.
  • Experimental Feature: If you set the property pffd/advanced_matching to true it will try to find background images that contain the title of the show. For example, if the show title is "Marry Poppins" it will match things like "marypoppins.jpg", "marypoppins-Hi-Res.jpg", and "Mary Poppins 1080.jpg".
  • Requires phoenix API build 57.
  • Requires TiKi's BMITools instead of stuckless' MetaDataFanartTools.

I have this directory structure, CentralFolder\Genre\Default\Backgrounds and I have some images in there (the seasonal images from the zip pack to be exact) and yet whenever I go to the details screen for a show that doesn't have specific fanart, Sage freezes for several seconds, gives me the circle of death, and then finally goes to the details screen for that show with a pure black background. This happens on both recordings and imported videos. What am I doing wrong? The fanart works fabulously for shows that actually have it.

I have the same symptoms. I had genre folders set up from before and the "default" folder wasn't a requirement. I'm not sure what was setup for which plugin but I had Fanart\Genres\ and then the particular folder for example Animals, Animated. Auto Racing, etc. Then I also have Fanart\banners\Genres\and then the actual jpg for example Animals.jpg, Animated.jpg, Auto Racing.jpg, etc. Now yours is bringing in a different requirement and doesn't work for shows without fanart. Running latest phoenix build 58.

Hmm, I can't reproduce this. One problem I see is that the documentation is wrong. It should say CENTRAL/fanart/Genres/... (Note the S in Genres.) Can you try that to see if it helps? If not can you provide a debug log and a screenshot of your fanart/Genres directory?

@Gerry - The STV should still read the images from the old places as well. I just added places to look, I did not remove any.

I added the S to Genre and it made no difference. Here's what you requested. I didn't think you really wanted all 9 megs of my log, so here's what I assume is a relevant section. From what I can tell, not only doesn't it not look for a default when it doesn't find something specific, but the structure that it looks in for genre images doesn't seem to match the documentation either.

Well now I sure have egg on my face. I decided to start from scratch on troubleshooting this thing. I must've had an old version of the phoenix api installed, because after explicitly downloading build 58 and unzipping it the default fanart works fine. Sorry for making unnecessary work for you!

No problem.

The STVi actually looks in more places for fanart than is described in the documentation and that shows up in the logs. I had fanart spread out all over the place and it was easier to have the STVi look all over rather than move all of the fanart.

Hmm, I'm having the same issue with background images under genre subdirectories not working. if I put all the genre JPGs flat under "backgrounds/Genres" it works fine. I have phoenix 58 installed.

This is an excerpt from the log:

One other comment, if there is no default JPG for a show, bringing up the "View Recording Detail" page is awfully slow (assumedly because it's looking for JPG that doesn't exist). I even get the spinning wheel of death for about 5 seconds before anything happens.
