NewB cant get past Step 1!!! please help

Ok so i bought the HD unit and the software bundle that included the Hauppauge 1600 tv tuner for my pc. I have installed everything and all drivers and WinTV is working great, and by that i mean i can view all the digital channels in HD and they are Crystal! Im using an HD antanna to just get the Over the Air digital stuff.

So i start up SageTV and Nothing. I have been working on it for days and NOTHING! and by nothing i mean i cannot get this software to pick up a freaking channel. Below i have listed my Wizard Configure steps and choices so someone can tell me where im going wrong. (Configure item -> My choice)

Select Country -> Untited states of america
Select Language -> English
Enabale Sage TV Server -> Yes...
Media Ext. and Place Shifter -> Yes...
Manage Placeshifter Users -> Continue ( i have not configured the users)
Configure Placeshifter Internet connections -> Continue
Load SageTV at windows start up -> Yes
Adjust Display aspect ratio -> 16:9
Display videos on menues -> If video is playing show it on menus
choose style for videos on menus -> display in the preview wind.
Select remote control -> No Remote or External Setup (im using the one that came with the HD unit, hopefully this is the right choice)
Enable Intelligent recording -> No
Weather Report Config -> Continue (ill do this later)
Set parental controls -> Continue with Wiz.
Media center import directories -> continue (dont have any at this time, still trying to get the freaking TV part to work!)
Set Analog Video Format -> NTSC
Partition Block Size -> Continue
Video Recording Directories -> Continue (using default on PC atm)
Source Setup Introduction (now for the fun/not so fun part) -> Continue
Source Wizard Summary -> Add New Source
My optoins are Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Capture and TS Capture -> I have tried both and neither have worked. but for this i will chose -> Video Capture
now it asks input on the Hauppauge, choice are Composit 1 or 2, S-video 1 or 2 and TV Tuner. ->TV Tuner(the over the air HD signal is coming into the tuner via Coax) - once i slelect this it trys to do a preview and when it is done i get a small preveiew window of STATIC...nice. It give me an option to continue and I -> Continue
Please select tuning option -> Use Tuner on Capture card to tune Antenna/broadcast
Programe Guide -> Use US, Canada, or XMLTV guide data with this source
Select the type of programe Guide -> Local broadcast (over the air)
Select local broadcast market -> SLC Utah - Digital broadcast (my optoins are also Analog or local) it then downloads the channel lineup for SLC Utah digital broadcast. And has all my digital channels listed as they should be. But when i select a channel, that i should get and preview it... it takes FOREVER to Initialize...(1min) and then STATIC!!!!. So then i tried to Scan for Available channels - takes over an HOUR to do this and when it is done it says that NO channels are found!

So why am i haveing such a problem? i look on the forums but No one seems to be having this basic problem...

FYI. I saved a DVD to my video directory (Iron Man) and tried accessing it off the HD unit. And it worked fine. so not sure what the problem with the TV Tuning is.

I also get basic cable and tried all this stuff with the basic cable coax connected instead of the over the air digital. and NOTHING as well, but i could still see the channels through WinTV, just not on SAGE TV?

Thanks.

Have you shut down and uninstalled the WinTV program? Tuner cards can only work with one application active. If WinTV is running in the background it may still have your tuner.
