best hardware decoder solution for client?

What is the best hardware decoder solution for client boxes?

I have been trying and trying to get a solution going with a software decoder that gives me satisfactory quality (comperable to my old tivo or at least my time warner dvr box). I have read probably several hundred posts (and tried all of the software decoders I have seen I think) and I am getting tired of messing with things that are not helping. So I have decided to try some sort of hardware decoding solution.

At the moment I can only seem to find info for 3 devices:
pvr-350
xcard
media mvp

apparently no osd on xcard for the moment so that is out.

looks like no support for media mvp for live tv/guide yet, so that is out.

I could use pvr-350, but it seems a fairly expensive card to put in several clients. I was planning on having several (probably 4, for up to 4 clients) pvr-250's in the server, and no tuners in the clients. I did see somewhere that I might be able to use distributed tuners from all the clients. If this is possible then this may be my best bet.

Are there any more options? I am finding it hard to believe that as of yet I have been unable to assemble a PVR that has better (or even the same) PQ as my crappy time warner box, considering that I have been messing with different solutions for 6 months.
