Separating Movies from Videos

I would like to separate videos from movies. I have 100 ripped movies and a number of home grown videos and would like to be able to have sagemc setup so that i can select My Videos or My Movies. Currently sagemc only has a My Videos options which has all the movies and videos together. Does this make sense and is this doable and if so could you point me in the right direction. Thanks for your help.

The import directories are:

H:\My Movies
H:\My Music
H:\My Videos
H:\My Pictures

currently running latest versions of sagemc, sagetv and HD200.

There are several ways you could go about this

This easiest and quickest is to setup two menu items and use pathfilterexpressions

Another option is to put all your videos in the same directory

\\videos\homevideos\
\\videos\movies\

And then use file system view in videos and you will be presented with both home videos and movies when you enter videos and clicking on one would give you those videos

Thanks for the reply. I found a post discussing the pathfilterexpressions in the file sagemc_menu_xml - is there documentation on the proper coding of these? thanks

Thanks for the info. I tried the coding on the main page and the screen looks great i.e. i have a My Videos and a My Movies. When i select either one there is no videos. I suspect its with my coding of a local hard drive. Below is what i've coded.

<internalScreenMenuItem icon="hover_my videos.png" screen="Video Library Folder View" title="My Videos">
<evalExpression>AddStaticContext("PathFilterExprs",new_java_util_ArrayList())</evalExpression>
<evalExpression>java_util_List_Add(PathFilterExprs,"H:\\My Videos")</evalExpression>
<evalExpression>AddStaticContext("PathFilterExcludes",false)</evalExpression>
</internalScreenMenuItem>
<!-- -->
<internalScreenMenuItem icon="hover_my videos.png" screen="Video Library Folder View" title="My Movies">
<evalExpression>AddStaticContext("PathFilterExprs",new_java_util_ArrayList())</evalExpression>
<evalExpression>java_util_List_Add(PathFilterExprs,"H:\\My Movies")</evalExpression>
<evalExpression>AddStaticContext("PathFilterExcludes",false)</evalExpression>
</internalScreenMenuItem>

Appreciate your help!

tHE pathfilterexpressions are case sensitive so make sure they are spelled exactly the same. Also make sure both directories are still in your import videos library.

the directories are in m import library and I dont see any difference between the pathfilterexpressions stmts. Any other ideas? Are the directories coded correctly? I tried with one slash and with two.

Thanks again for your help.

I tried removing all the import directories, re-adding them and then re-scanning them. Still nothing shows when with My Videos and My Movies is selected. I have not tried UNC paths yet.

I had an issue similiar to this and what ended up working for me was to go to the sage setup menu and right below parental controls was a menu item called "Refresh Imported Media" once I clicked this my movies and home videos showed up under the new menu item. Let me know if this works for you.

I think the easiest approach is to use the File System view from the my Videos screen. See the attached screenshots (Main Menu is Capture1, my Videos screen is Capture2). In your case (assuming you told Sage to import both H:\My Movies and H:\My Videos), you would have two folders on the my Videos screen: My Movies and My Videos.

Thanks for the response, however i really don't care for doing that way (file system view). The problem is, i have several users in my family and it gets changed by myself sometimes and then the wife and kids can't figure out where everything went.

It's safe to say, if your reading this forum.... you're not a casual sage user...rather your a power user. The options in the various media type menus are more then what my casual "user-base" here can handle (i know i know i know, i've offered training...). I need to be able to customize the main menu to suit my needs so my family can enjoy everything i've worked hard to organize for them.

I'll tackle sage studio if i have to to get this to work as it's not the only main menu tweak i need to make (i.e. i want My Podcasts too). It just seems that based on responses and documentation this should work without getting nutz writing code.
