One Very minor bug I found:

The episode and group Sorting Title Headers are reversed.
I suppose the "Episode Sorting Menu" should really be called the "Episode Sorting" in the header of the popup box and not "Group Sorting".... Nice catch

I have added the ability to disable/hide the delete option from all your menus, Linked to the sagemc (Show delete for videos) display option. I also added Enable/Disable to the sage settings menu.

maybe you could add that for other users.
it doesnt follow the sagemc option? because it should... i just link to the sagemc option menus so it should follow that setting... ill have to look into that...

I saw this, too, and it really messed me up initially, but I was too busy getting everything else figured out and when I finally responded about my upgrade... I forgot! LOL!

Sorry for the delay in my response, I live in Vietnam slight time difference!

I guess it should be sorted by the "latest episode in series date" original air date.

Just to be clear, I want it grouped by series title, and when a new episode is added the group titles will be sorted by the original airdate (the latest episode date).

I have the episodes sorted by Season Episode (reversed), this is perfect as is.

Unless I missed something, that is the case. the group delete all and the episode delete where still visible when it should have been disabled, like in the episode (Video Info) screen.

I have just found another thing that would be great for me.

Default focus of the episode to be the latest episode date (original air date).

I would try and do this myself but don't know how the grouping\sorting works.

I have a few TV series that I have ripped to my HDD from DVD and everything works fine with TVE pulling them in, however, if I try to set any of the DVD's as watched I do not get that little "w" icon, or a partially "w" icon if I have only make it partly through a single DVD of episodes. Is there a setting I need to change or is this just not possible at the moment. I'm just thinking it would be nice to see which discs I've watched of "24" since I have 42 DVD's of that show on my HDD. Thanks for the help.

yup makes sense...and is the most analogous to "Recording Date" (which for alot of us (when we are recording) is the original air date )

ahhh ya that's because i link to the TV recordinging options menu... which doesnt have the hide delete option.... the options menus are going to be completely redone (and not directly linked to the sagemc ones) so when i get around to doing that ill make sure to include a "hide delete" option

yup right now it defaults to "Last Recorded"... ill add an option for "Last Original Air Date"... you can change the default focus right now in TVE Options -> Episode -> Default Focus... you have a choice of "Last Recorded", "Last Watched", and "Next Show In Series" ... Next Show In Series will focus on the show after the last one you watched in your history... that might get you close enough for now...

These are DVD's in DVD format (with VIDEO_TS folders and such)? I believe the sage api does not allow you to set the watched status on DVDs (unless im mistaken...) ... I'll send a feature request to sage for such a feature... until that happens though there's not much i can do...

If the dvd's were ripped into individual episodes (in mkv, mpg, avi, etc format) then you can set the watched status on it... for some reason this doesnt apply to dvd/bd objects... evilpenguins mediashrink makes the ripping into individual episodes an almost painless process...

exchanged emails with sage... and its not going to happen. There is no reliable way to know if a dvd has been watched... since dvds really do not have a beginning and an end (they just go back to the menu... and there is no way to know if the main movie was watched or a special feature... etc) ....

Is is possible to give the user the ability to simply set a DVD title "watched" manually; separate of anything within sage having to "detect" whether or not something has been watched or not? Maybe somehow adding this ability to the "Set Watched" function when you press the "Options" command when the focus is on the title in TVE? Just press "Set Watched" and BAM! the little 'w' icon just gets put there?

@razrsharpe: I have a few Blu-rays that I've ripped to MKVs and are stored in "My Videos" in SageTV. They have all the proper metadata, but I notice they don't get pulled into TVE as "movies" when that filter is set. Is this a bug or intended (hopefully future feature) design?

the issue here is where does that "watched" information get stored? Since sage does not support a dvd's watched status in its db it would have to be stored somehow externally... which i really dont want to get into at the moment... If sage were to allow the user to manually set watched on dvds (but not automatically set it) they would end up getting lots of support requests saying set watched doesnt work (because its different then it is for tv and videos)... They also have lots of other more technical reasons why they don't support set watched for dvds...

All that being said, Ortus (when used with its db) will support this... TVE will (eventually... and who knows when ) support the ortus db... so the best i can say at the moment is its coming... but who knows when...

these are movies? where the mediatype = "Movie" in bmt? As it currently stands TVE does not support imported videos where the mediatype is not "tv". The "Movie" filter is there for filtering in/out and grouping TV recorded movies. I could look at adding imported movie (or generic) video support... but its not there now....

Exactly correct. I figured it wasn't a supported thing, but thought I'd bring it up, with the hopes that you'd implement it at some point. In all honesty, I'll love for TVE to be the one and only place I go to for every type of video file I have. Not to butter you up, but it really is THAT good! Other than SageMC, this is my #1 import. You've truly hit gold with this one.

Hi razrsharpe,

Another feature request

How about after a group has been set to watched it drops down the list to be below the unwatched.

Watched list sorted by whatever you have selected overall,
title: recording date/ original air date.

So the latest watched would be just below the last unwatched.

Hopefully it's possible and it makes sense

I'll look to adding this in 2.0. All the backend code for finding, filtering, and grouping media is changing in 2.0 so i'll add it to my to-do list for it....

and thanks for the kind words, it really means a lot

makes sense and is definitely doable... I'll add it to the 2.0 todo list since its probably a fair amount of work (and as i just posted) a lot of this (filtering/grouping/sorting) code is changing for 2.0 so I want to minimize the work i have to do twice

That's funny... I was just thinking about how annoying it is to scroll down through a full season (or more) of watched episodes in order to get to the next unwatched one, but it never crossed my mind to make it a feature request. I'm glad someone else thought to! This would have really come in handy 2 years ago when I started watching Stagate SG1 from the very first season. My page down button really got a workout!

i think you and drak are talking about 2 different things.... drak is talking about (from how i read it anyway) reordering the groups... so that if an entire group is watched it will drop to the bottom of the list (with all the other fully watched groups...). You are talking about changing the sorting within a group... i am less inclined to reorder the episodes in a group.... i think it would be confusing actually ... but... there is a TVE option that sets the default focus for which episode in a group it should focus on first (TVE Options -> Episode -> Default Focus)... your choices are Last Recorded, Last Watched, and Next Show in Series (next episode after the one you last watched... or the last watched if it was only watched partially)

I just thought of another "feature" I'd like to see. Due to the amount of recordings I have, my list is fairly lengthy, even after I filter. Any chance of getting a "jump to" feature? I'm thinking of two possible ways to implement:

1. Use the number keys on the remote to jump to those letters. If I press 5 one time, it jumps to listings beginning with J, if I press it again, it moves to K, and a third press would obviously go to L.
2. Some way to bring up a list of letters so I could select the letter I want to jump down to. I know I've seen this somewhere in SageTV or an import, but I don't recall where at the moment.

Sorry... one other "issue" has come to my attention with the latest version. Now that the years are all the way on the right of the bottom pane, you can't get to the program info screen by moving to the right from the selected episode. I'm pretty sure the original version worked this way. If there's a way to enable us to get to that screen, I'd like to see it return. The main driver behind this request is the movie trailer import which was recently released put the button on the program info screen.

Ahhh... ok. I see what you and he were talking about now. I also agree with you about it being confusing. I forgot about that sort option, too! Thanks for the reminder. Since I'm not at home, I have a question about how it gets displayed with that set. Is the next show (which is focused now) the first one displayed in the episode list? The questions stems from a little OCD and lack of faith in everything being "perfect" in SageTV. I would want to "verify" that last one I watched was the last episode I was supposed to watch and that no episode is suddenly "missing". Is that making sense? So, I'd like the focused episode to be the 2nd one in the episode list.
