Problems with my PVR-250 w/ M10000 mobo
I just recieved my PVR-250 this morning and have been working all day trying to get it to work correctly on my via m10000 mobo.
The first thing i noticed after installing the drivers from the cd is the Windows New Hardware gave me the error "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". So I figured i would restart and see what happens. Well first thing i noticed was everything looked horrable, i opened up my display settings and it was at 640 x 480 on 4 bit color. Any time i tried to change these settings my screen would flash and it would go back to 640 x 480 4 bit color. I also noticed i had no special S3 options in my Advanced display settings. The only way i can up my resolution is to go into device manager and manually disable the PVR-250 (which shows no errors) and then up my resolution. Then if i try to enable my PVR-250 again i get the same "This device cannot start" error. I tried getting the newest hauppauge drivers with same result. Then i tried uninstalling the video card drivers (Via S3) and rebooting. Everything boots up fine and looks great but the video card shows up with an error saying it needs drivers and i have no hardware mpeg-2 decoding. I then tried installing the newest Via video drivers with no luck. This leads me to believe that its some sort of driver conflict between my Via S3 graphics card drivers and the PVR-250 drivers. I've searched for this problem with no luck and I know there are many people using the m10000 mobo and pvr-250 with no problems. If anyone has the m10000 and pvr-250/350 if you could tell me what version of drivers you have for the onbord video and pvr card. Also if you have any advice or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks My setup: Via m10000 mobo (VIA/S3G UniChromeGraphics ver. 6.14.10.86) Hauppauge PVR-250 (WinTV-PVR PCI II (Encoder-16) ver. 1.17.390.22029) 512mb 3200 Crucial Memory 100GB + 40GB Maxtor HDD Windows XP Pro w/ all updates G-Atlantic GA-610i case(150W PSU) w/riser card Artec 16X DVD Rom |

Code 10 Error means the operating system had a problem allocating resources for that Device.
Try uninstall even thing by download the Latest Full Driver Kit and read my uninstall note and try ENABLE Extended System Configuration Data (ESCD) in the bios. |

Well I updated the drivers (uninstalling the old ones just like it said in your link) and no luck. Then I made sure ESCD was enabled and it was and i even tried reseting the ESCD configuration data and still no luck. Then I spent the whole day messing around with settings and stuff with no luck. Then finally I decided to go into BIOS and load the fail safe defaults. Upon restarting to my supprise everything worked wonderfully. So I loaded the optimized settings and no problems, so it must have been some setting i messed with in BIOS.
Thanks for your advise, until i read your post i hadent even though about a bios setting and now i have all the latest drivers. Now i can finally install sage and test out my new PVR card. Thanks again [EDIT] - Just found out what the problem was. For some reason setting the frame buffer size from 32 to 64 messes everything up. I changed it to 64 and the problems returned, changed it back to 32 and everything was ok again. Last edited by TheBest_1; 03-28-2004 at 12:03 AM. |
