Samsung HD LCD and Sagetv output - what's best?

I'm upgrading to a Samsung LCD, which has component, HDMI and composite inputs. The video card I currently use for sage is a Gforce 6200 (because it has no fan and is quiet).

The outputs on that card are VGA, DVI and S-Video. There is no S-Video on the new Samsung set.

So, to view SageTV output, would I get a DVI to HDMI convertor, or am I going to have to get a new video card? At the moment, the 6200's maximum resolution is 1024x768 I believe, far below the 1080p resolution of the new set.

Are there "quiet" video cards with HDMI outputs?
What are you folks using to feed 1080p sets?

thanks

I have a ATI 4650 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102829) that is almost silent. If you don't need to do 1080i DI you can go with a 4350 or 4550, both have passive options.

I would try something like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121260

don't worry about HDMI, just run audio separate and use a DVI -> HDMI adapter (HDMI is basically DVI+Audio)

yup - AGP 8 is my MB's max. The GeForce 6200 I have now has DVI out, and is supposedly capable of HD resolution

That looks nice, although I'll have to see if there's room - it's an Matx MB and the box is a little cramped. Thanks for the tip. What card do you use to record - Hauppauge?

That 6200 should be capable of outputting 1920x1080 just fine over the DVI with a DVI-to-HDMI cable. It won't do much hardware accelleration, so H.264 HD content and blu-ray might be a problem, but HD MPEG-2 should be no problem.
