Burning SageTV recorded video

I can burn the mpeg's to the DVD using nero and they play fine on the PC using whatever. Media Player and it also plays fine using WinDVD. It doesn't however play in my hardware DVD player. It's a cheapie and I am fine if that is all it is, just a cheap DVD player not playing a DVD+R disc. My burner burns in other formats and I'll try others. I was just wondering if there is anything special within the Sage software setup that I need to have right. It's hardware encoding only, and using the 2 GB an hour video setting. Anything specific to setup on the software side?

You can't just burn the mpgs to a disk and have them play, you need to author the DVD properly to have it work in a STB. DVD players require the DVD to have the VIDEO_TS\video_ts.ifo vts_01.vob ... structure.

If you know you'll be burning a show to DVD, your life will be slightly easier if you choose one of the DVD qualities in Sage, since those files are already DVD compliant. You'll still have to author the disk but it should go quicker since they don't need to be converted.

STB? Set top box perhaps? Anyway, I have some software from ULead that came with one of the capture cards I have. Working on trying it out now. Wizard, while generic, seems to be doing what I want. Thanks for the tip.
