Channel Order
I am a new Sage user, having been a Vista (and Win7) Media Centre user for some time.
I have set up my two DVB-T tuners with sage, the guide is coming through fine, and everything seems to work well. Except... The channel order is totally random. Without manually setting every channel number, is there a way to get this right? Surely the channel number is in the DVB-T stream somewhere, along with the EPG data? I've seen verious posts on these forums aout using XMLTV for EPG data, and also getting it to generate channel lists too, but it confuses the hell out of me. HELP! |

I suspect most people on here like me use XMLTV.
Check out this as a good starting point:- http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...&postcount=305 Stephanes importer will let you set the channel order for the EPG.

When you install your tuner and scan the channels, they arrive in the order there were scanned, so you need to manually sort them.
The manual operation to sort the channels needs to be done only once, you will have to do it manually, either by editing the frq files , or by using the XMLTV importer from Stephane. And you need to do that for each tuner. On top of ordering channels , Stephane's XMLTV Importer software automatically updates the EPG guide daily. It grabs the EPG data ( using DG2XML if you have a Digiguide subscription - complete listing , or using XMLTV if you want the free EPG data alternative - not all channels are covered) , and sends the EPG data to SageTV. There is a free version and a subscription version.

There are different products available with similar names, and I got confused first, so here is a list of what they are, and what they do : XMLTV : Free software (dos based) to grab EPG data and create an xml file . You have to configure the file, and run it with parameters. Example of use : xmltv tv_grab_uk_rt --8 days --epguk.xml xmltv tv_grab_fr --8 days --slow --epgfrance.xml DG2XML : Like XMLTV, except it grabs the data from the Digiguide application ( you need to install digiguide on your PC, and have a digiguide subscription which costs around £5 a year ). DG2XML is free but you need the digiguide.com subscription. It creates an xml file with the EPG data. XMLTV Importer : Stephane's importer to automate the EPG updating in SageTV. It does the grabbing using XMLTV and/or DG2XML and sends the EPG files to SageTV. There is a limited free version, or a £9 complete version.
